There is no guarantee that whomever we get as a new coach will win 80% of his games, or even win the West, compete for the SECCG, or play in a NCG. The new coach may not be loved by his community and players as much as Miles is. The new coach may not hire competent coaches or recruit as well as Miles did. That is the risk LSU is taking in firing Miles. Everyone should remember that Miles job is in question NOT because we haven't beat Bama in the last 5 tries. His tenure as coach at LSU is in jeopardy because of HOW we have been losing games the last 4 seasons, of our declining SEC record, how un prepared our teams look in those losses, how sloppy the teams have looked on both Offense and Defense, and because of his inability to adapt as a coach and allow his OC's to run the offense. All of that can be laid at the feet of Les Miles. It's the responsibility you take as a HC. I do not agree with how this has been handled. He deserves a ton of respect for growing LSU's Football program and being a great ambassador for LSU. We can only hope that those in charge know what they are doing.
There is no guarantee that Miles would win 80% of his games going forward if he stays. In fact the odds are against it and the trend says no.
There's no guarantee that Miles would duplicate that if he were allowed to stay He will be loved by the community if he wins. I don't care if he is loved by his players. I care if he is respected by his players. What are the odds on that?
I have a buddy (take it for what it's worth, he has been right before, wrong before) says Fisher is a done deal, Muschamp is the DC, and Orgeron, Wilson, Raymond stay put. He has been right most of the time.
