I have a feeling I'll look back on this and wish he'd gotten another year. If we hire someone who wins at least 1 national championship and wins 80% of his games (or at least close to that) over the next five seasons, then maybe not. But if it's not that kind of improvement, I'll just be sad that Les wasn't around longer.
I think there are a few that can make whomever the new hire is a great success or if they leave a middle of the pack and a few years away. Pocic is one but no one on the O line should be thinking NFL after the last 3 weeks anyway. Sr's included
We shouldn't let the media hire and fire people. I would laugh to see them proven wrong like I still laugh at Herbie.
Time will tell. For as much as I love Les the bottom line is football isn't as difficult as he makes it. We shall see.
He reminds me of a track coach I had. The guy wasn't a genius about the best running or training techniques, but he made things fun in a sport that isn't necessarily fun and you wanted to do well for him. So I imagine I would have gone to play for Les if I had been a little younger and were the kind of person that would have been a top football player. Thanks though. I feel like I haven't gone completely crazy. I was starting to wonder.
The drop off is noticeable, IMO, but still isn't so bad that it can't be turned around. Continuing down the path we've been on will only increase the drop off and make rebounding more difficult. It's time for Les to go; hope it goes classy but if shit stirrers start getting cold feet it could get ugly.
Great recruiting, great facilities, known as a national top program, but coming off a disappointing season. Yes, I'd say the program is in similar shape.
I'm catching the sarcasm, but my hypothetical does hold water. I'm not saying we would have won national championship but does Miles get fired?
