So the overtime loss to the Gumps last year was tolerable pain? How about the 3 point loss to the Dames? The almost come back miracle to Moo St? Look I hear ya about the last 3 games. This is different, 3 horrible losses to 3 big rivals. And yeh I would feel better if they had been close loses. But anybody on this board tells me that they could tolerate 2 or 3 seasons in a row of 7-6 or 8-5 football, when the loses would have to include at least 3 or 4 SEC games, I just have to question. I'm not calling just you out, I'm saying anybody on this board would be questioning the hire or demanding new coordinators. Its what we do. Remember, year 2009 - it's remembered as one of Mile's bad years. Our losses were a 10 point loss to a #1 Florida team, a 9 point loss to #3 Bama team, and 2 point losses to Old Piss and Jared Fogle's (Subway guy) favorite team, Penn State. Those were competitive losses and Miles still caught shit. So it wasn't meant to be a 'in your face' bull shit. It's just a 'I really don't think so' bull shit.
No @kluke what it ultimately amounts to is a long time coming. It happens. 5 years is the norm, 7 if you are really good. It's time.
Look I don't want to see LSU ever lose, unfortunately losing is a part of competition. I'm just sick and tired of losing and losing in miserable fashion. You know, in exceedingly no passion style. The Bama loss last year hurt badly, like the year before, since we were beating that ass and Chavis got away from what was working and went prevent, allowing the gumps to make their comeback. Of course I always want LSU to win, I sport a Fluer De Tigre tattoo on my right bicep, my fandom I can not hide.
No I agree its time, that not what I was saying. It's actually past time because they should have ripped the bandage off today. TigerTailgating said he could deal with 7 - 9 win seasons if they were competitive losses.. I just don't think any of us are built that way.
Of course not, that is assuming that recruiting doesn't go into the sitter which I don't think it will. How can we tolerate 9 when an average of 10 doesn't cut it?
Les has had ebbs and flows before. 11-2, 11-2, 12-2, then 17-9 over the next two years, 11-2, 13-1. 10-3, 10-3, then 15-8 over the next two years. Maybe we have a good season coming up.
And maybe, with the current staff in place, instead of 7-4 and an invite to Shreveport, LSU goes 6-6 or below and no bowl period. The trend the last 3 years doesn't bode well for Miles success.
Can't bet trends my man. Look, for as much as I love to bash him, and trust me, I do love to take it to the ol boy; I'd love to find a reason, a way to defend him. I really and truly would. I love the guy. He is a hoot, can recruit his ass off but Willie says it best. Turn out the lights, the party's over...where you at @Bengal B ?
I think we have a number of young players who will be better next year and not that many by comparison who won't be here next year. If he were to stay and even go 8-4 regular season next year, I think that would be bad enough to make a change. You talked about Arkansas in the other thread. They fired Houston Nutt after an 8-4 regular season. They did this in part because he had experienced players and the expectations that year were high (even though he didn't have a very good O line coming back, which people sometimes forget about in preseason projections). I'm not saying we need to keep Les at all costs or that I'm happy with winning only 2/3 of the games. My expectations would be higher for next year than they were for this year.
