Read an article that said Jimbo loves the SEC. He loves the rabid football culture. He loves the competition. FSU is a football school in a basketball conference. LSU + SEC Saturdays might be the perfect lure. Would you rather be making weekly trips to the like of Jordan Hare Stadium or Wallace Wade?
One of the talking heads in BR tonight said the only 3 names he's hearing are, Jimbo, Chip Kelly and Mullen. According to that list it would be Jimbo or bust. Hopefully he's talking to one of the janitors at LSU and not someone connected to the search.
I see a lot of reasons why Jimbo would want to come back to LSU, and I see a lot of reasons why he'd stay at FSU. With the new stadium addition seating 104K fans, the facilities, the fertile recruiting grounds, the food, and the overall rabid fan base he could do a lot worse. And as mentioned LSU pays their assistants more than almost any school out there, but is all that enough to lure him to the bayou? Guess only time will tell. I will say this, Jimbo can recruit as well, and can develop the talent that we seem to lack at a certain position, the question is... can he win? Honestly if a guy like Jimbo were to come in, and go 7-9 wins a season but at least has his teams ready to comepete, I'd be happier than watching my blood pressure rise every Saturday hoping for another 4th qtr miracle to add to the record.
Call it how you see it all you want. I'd rather lose 3-4 or 5 "competitive" games a year, then lose key conference games like the Arkansas and Ole Piss games, where LSU looks as lost as the doofus on the side lines clapping like a dunce, and scratching his head wondering wtf just happened. Losing under Miles isn't the issue to me, it's how we lose... absolutely uncompetitive and undisciplined.
