I'd love to see the 'Noles have Fisher has their head coach just because they came to LSU to get him, but I'd always hoped that Bobby Bowden would pass the Florida State reins over to Terry or Tommy Bowden.
I think it is a pretty good deal. It basically gives him close to a decade of job security, which is almost impossible to find in the profession. Not to mention he does not have to do interviews and start over at another school...he will be making a painless transition to a school he likes.
If its true, I hope he does well. Local news in Jax here are saying its a done deal, just up to BB to decide when he wants to retire. :tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye:
Apparently FSU doesn't want to return to their glory years anytime soon. Have the "higher ups" watched at all this year? The offense has gotten worse since Dumbo took over. And Weatherford hasn't improved at all under Dumbo. Gators fans are jumping for joy right now. The FSU game is a guaranteed victory now.
I don't get it either :huh: I would think they would get a big name to come in there because it is a big time job. Florida is the easiest place in the country to recruit. It's pretty plain to see FSU has fallen behind UF and even UCF.
Don't forget USF. I don't think it is a good fit for Jimbo...He needs to become a HC in smaller program...Hopefully, he's able to bring FSU back into a contender and schedule a home and home against LSU.
David Letterman;s contract guaranteed he would take over for JohnnY Carson, when Carson retired. Carson was forced out and NBC didn't even blink when they had to pay Letterman a whole $1 million. If FSU goes 5-7 for a couple of years and the offense struggles, Bowden will first fire Jimbo as a scapegoat to save his job for another year and then he will be forced out. Not everyone is Gerry DiNardo who will go down with his OC when the ship starts leaking water.
I saw a story on this where it says Bowden wants 400 wins. He's at 373. At the time Bowden retires, the contract with Fisher says he will get a 7-figure settlement if he isn't hired as coach. Till that time, Fisher will assume more of the duties of head coach for Bowden....such as fundraising, recruiting, etc and for his extended duties he'll get a raise from his current salary. But still why Fisher? I mean he's a fine OC but FSU head coach material? I don't think so. He's Central Florida head coaching material....not FSU. I think that's a mistake for FSU but good for Jimbo. I mean he was a coach here and now we'll have Pelini as a head coach at Nebraska and Jimbo at FSU. Good for future assistants to see where our past assistants have ended up. Besides, LSU is a good place for assistants......we pay way more than most schools do......outside the SEC.
I cant believe that you guys didnt see jimbo getting the head job at FSU coming a mile away. Jeez you could see it the the day he left and the pay cut he took i knew it the day he took the job he had tombe promised the head job... guys jimbo will be fine because he can recruit very well.. and he will be as good a coach as miles is right now and i think he will be able to get enough talent to bail him out.
