It seems Jimbo Fisher has been anything but bashful about making changes from the Bowden era. Copying the University of Alabama, Jimbo is stressing "mental conditioning" as a tool to help players succeed in the face of modern day distractions. "You don't need to be sick to get better" stated Fisher. Jimbo has enlisted the help of professional "mental coaches" to assist in his quest to cultivate a winning atmosphere within the Seminole's program. Oklahoma has instituted the program earlier this year now Florida State. Give Saban credit for thinking outside the box, But personally I saw all this way back in the 60's when an unknown scientist known simply as Spock was doing new and innovative things in the field of "mental conditioning." It was successful then, and Bama did win it all this year. The question who is next? Till next time "Live long and Prosperous."
I'm not giving Saban credit for anything like this. Sports psychology has been around amateur athletics since the early forties after WWII. Hypnotism as a methodology used by athletes to improve concentration has been around as long as that also. In fact, one of my clients at the cafe is a professional hypnotist that helps people lose weight, stop smoking, and improve their golf games. He has many professional athletes for clients. I don't think he'll help Saban though because he's a huge LSU fan. The Amazing Dr. Z - Official Website Anybody recognize the theme song for his official website ??
More about positive thinking and giving structure to a lot of young kids that could be struggling simply because of environment and also just being young. The first year that Alabama players were exposed to the program, the instructors realized they were using terms that are closely associated with strong family values. They found that a number of players were hearing the terms and phrases but not always understanding the context because of their individual circumstances. Each year they modify the program to try and get these young guys thinking together and making good lifetime decisions. Just kidding about the "mind melt."
I do give Saban credit for being an outstanding coach. Did you click on Dr Z's link? He's for real. I was a skeptic about these hypnotism shows, but he really does hypnotize random people from the audience...including my son !! I bet he could hypnotize Saban and make him sing the LSU fight song.:hihi:. He performs in Las Vegas a lot at the casinos there...and at the Abita Springs cafe also.
Saban might sing it on his own. The first time he was introduced to the Bama faithful was halftime of a Bama vs LSU Basketball game. He comes out with a tan suit, I believe and Purple tie and tells all the LSU fans how much they mean to him. We think he's over it but who knows. Ya, these guys are for real. In Vegas and other places people are sometimes given suggestions they get absolutely humiliated doing, some of it X-rated,unlike the old days when they were just barking like a dog. Much like the T-Mobile dude, I ain't going out there.:insane:
Nice try bammer. It was mind MELD, ya mook. Vulcan (Star Trek) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Mind melt, indeed. Were you confusing that with patty melt? :hihi:
Here I am trying to share something on the cutting edge of athletic achievement known only to a few who dare to be great. On top of that I give you one of LSU's own favorite sons Jimbo The Fisher. It hurts we are talking semantics at such a time. But alas these trekkies are everywhere. You have boldly gone where many would not have taken the time. Take a $100.00 out of petty cash my friend . Engage. PS, not really sure what a 'Mook" is, schmuck ya got that.
Hmmm, somebody tries to make a wildly esoteric point and misses badly, and then is called out for the oh so apparent airball, then flails away at the juxtaposed reality he himself has created... ...oh, the humanity... (historical reference, pal) Sweet Home Alabama indeed. BTW Jimbo ain't ours - he's a Barner. You oughta know that.
