I saw a post by Wolf04 on another thread that really told me that the staff has too little confidence in JR and/or themselves. I won't get into the semantic argument of playing not to lose, ie win, but will say that if you are too passive, most defenses in the SEC will eat you alive. With play calls like this, only a QB who would audible out would have a chance. JR at least deserves a chance to succeed and not be hamstrung by the staff, 1st half mistake not withstanding. QBs make mistakes, I bet ut isn't laughing about the one Clausen made by throwing the int just before the game ended. I have never seen the perfect game, esp by a soph. QB.

Use your other players to help the QB, Bowe, Green, and Doucet might as well been on the bench. These are the players that other teams fear, you dictate the coverage schemes if you attack.

No way. JR didn't lose this game. I was over at Tigerdroppings and saw something that explains why.

Of those 18 plays, 2 were on the last drive with only a few seconds remaining, so both were passing situations. Of the other 16 1st or 2nd down plays in our normal offense, we ran the ball 13 times and threw it 3 times. 13 runs and 3 passes on 1st or 2nd down in the second half. If that's not amazing enough, consider that 2 of the passes were to Hester in the flat on first down, which for all intents and purposes are running plays. The only other pass on 1st or 2nd down was an incompletion to Skyler Green over the middle on 2nd and 11 on the series after JaMarcus' INT

JR can't make plays if he isn't allowed to throw the ball. One of the main reasons we lost because we kept the ball out of the hands of the guy who has done it for us time and time again.

This thread should be re named since we now KNOW from his illustrioud ( lack ) NFL career that jamarcus isnt worth a crap and never was. It wasnt Jimbo.....

Strong arm and no ability to operate an offense from the QB position = J Russel.

SOOOO can we have Jimbo back? :hihi:

Jimbo molded Matt Flynn/Mauck into championship QBs. He even made Jamarcus Russell a servicable QB, which is probably his biggest accomplishment in retrospect.

We had the poor dude all wrong. I'd give anything to have him now. . .

    As head coach or OC?

I remember when Saban left so late in the season, one prominate poster (no longer with us) had suggested that we promote either our OC or DC as interim head coach to give us time to look for a "top-notch" coach. Do you remember who made that suggestion? It wasn't me, but in hind-sight, I think we would be in better shape today had we taken that course.

Jimbo was a good recruiter and pretty good QB coach, but his offense was even more predictable than Crowtons. He may make a good HC at FSU but I wouldn't want him back as OC.

Just walking through the park and reminiscing. Trying to generate some discussion and it worked. I certainly don't have the answer about our offensive woes. I know Jimbo was accused of being too predictable and conservative though.

In retrospect, he was a GREAT QB coach. We haven't done sh!t since his QB's have departed.

People say that Miles won with Saban's players. I say that he won with Jimbo's players.

Besides, too much is made around here about OC's being predictable. A fan of their own team always thinks their OC is predictable because they watch their team every single week. Is there honestly any team that you watch and think, on every play, that you really have no idea what's coming? Probably not. Game-planning and execution are much, much more important.
Well, I meant as OC, but he'd probably be doing a better job as HC right now, too.
