Like we didn't already know this. http://www.smithsonianmag.com/histo...roversial-New-Text-About-Jesus-170177076.html
I actually had the time to read the article today. It seems the fragment is (decently but certainly not definitively) authenticated. In so far as what the missing text actually says, well that's anybody's guess. I think what's going to be more interesting is the backlash from some organized Christian religions and their adherents.
Come on. Jesus is possibly the most common name in the Judeo/Christian World. Joshua, Jesus, Joseph, John and another dozen biblical names are all derivatives of the ancient Hebrew name Yehoshuah (God Saves), itself a derivation of the Hebrew name for God--YHWH (Yehowah or Yahweh). Mary and its ilk (Miriam, Maria, Marilyn...) is slightly less ancient yet still very common female name in the Holy lands. Indeed Jesus' own mother is the more famous Mary. The chance that this refers to JC himself is remote.
one the greatest causes of violence in the world today is the division of sunni and shia muslims, which is largely about the lineage of mohammad and how leadership was inherited after him. thank the lord jesus is not supposed to have any kids for christians to murder each other over.
Since Bill Maher was mentioned in another thread ill throw out a quote, "Jesus was always broke, he always was hanging out with the guys, and he welcomed death, of course he was married"
