they hired back Campo, a great defensive coach and are now talking to Capers and Greg Williams to be assistants. Looks like the owner is trying to find good defensive guys to take over once the offensive guy becomes the head coach. edit... it should be noted that Capers was Garrett's hand-chosen DC had he taken the Baltimore job.
Jerry wants to make sure that he doesn't have another Super Bowl slip away from him. But the Cowboys' defense MUST improve, especially in the secondary. The offense had what it needed, but the defense really was a letdown. I keep wondering, though, about how Jerry is making Wade Phillips look like he has no power. We all know that Garrett is the annointed "coach in waiting," and then these former head coaches come in for the defensive side...
i'm all for improving the defense, because you're right, it was a notch below championship-level this season, but you're right. sometimes 2 heads aren't always better than 1 when egos are involved.
They lost 21-17. They averaged nearly 30 ppg. I don't get the defense bashing. That was an abyssmal offensive display.
1 game does not a season make. Their defense was pretty bad, all things considered. The Giants only scored 21 because that game didn't have a lot of possessions in it. Dallas had two 10+ minute drives. That doesn't leave much room for anything else. In just 23:00+ mins on the field, NYG scored 3 TDs. That's just not acceptable. Imagine how many they would have scored had the Giants controlled time of possession.
