Does anybody have the inside scoop on this guy? What are LSU's chances of landing this guy? http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=24326&Sport=1 :lsug: :champs: :lsug:
The word is he is a lean to Auburn. He plays a big game to say the least verse West Jones for the district championship. I saw him as a soph and he was awesome. His team is ranked #3 in the state and West Jones is ranked #2. I certainly hope that he comes to the Tigers. I have heard that he may not qualify, but I don't have any facts on that.
I doubt we're really after this kid that hard. He looks like an Auburn lock. We're still very interested in Callahan Bright (some think he is better than Powe) and Demarcus Granger, who we have much better shots at getting. If we got both of them we'd be set at DT for a while with Dorsey, Favorite, Bright, and Granger all at LSU.
From what I have seen, Granger is the best shot of those 3. And he is far from a lock. Powe may not qualify and is a supposed AU lock. Hopefully when Granger visits we leave an impression. One thing our coaches can say right now to sway recruits is tell them the best players will play no matter how old you are. And its totally true. Hester, Dorsey, Highsmith, and now Sanders will all have starts this year as True Freshman. Chevis, Early, Carter, and others all receiving considerable PT. Recruits notice that and I think its a big advantage, recruitingwise.
Grades, Grades, Grades LSU has just as good a shot as Auburn on Powe ... especially when their annual chokefest begins ... but grades are a big concern for Powe ... he's probably JC material for at least the next 2 years Granger is the one we want of the two (he's on Dave Campbell's Super Team with Clarence Ward) ... OU & Texas are camped out in Dallas for this kid. As long as either doesn't win a NC ... we've got a great shot to land him As for selling kids on LSU early playing time ... they know they eat that up ... and Nick plays so many freshmen ... it sells itself ... you can't BS these kids anymore about that ... they KNOW which freshmen played and stats. Another big talented lineman in Texas on the radar screen is Lorenzo Jones (6'3"-290-5.0)
Lorenzo Jones Link Ramah, you've heard we have some interest in this guy? I read a few interviews and no mention of the tigers? You got some info?
Definitely headed to Auburn, add in that he isn't close to qualifying doesn't help LSU's chances. We know our Staff doesn't recruit non smarts. Also, LSU's chances with DeMarcus Granger are getting slimmer.
On Aug 4th, 2004 On October 18th, 2004 and confirmed on Aug. 16th. On Sept. 23, 2004 Sometime between Sept. 23 and Oct. 18th he loss a lot of interest on being a Tiger for some reason. I couldn't find out anything else.
