Seems like no one can talk about spring practice without mentioning these guys (especially Rasco).

I've seen some film of them on drills. Filling the shoes of Big Sam Montgomery and KeKe Mingo will be tough to do, but these guys seem like they are ready.

I really really like both of these guys.

I'm excited to see what they can do.

I would like to see these two slam head first into each other with McCarron's helmet in the middle this fall......that's all I have. Oh and I hate his Tatoo's.....

There was talk about Hunter last Spring, but he never really saw he field. Now this Spring Jordan Allen is wearing a green jersey and has been getting just as many reps if not more than Hunter. What gives?

Shouldn't be too tough. Last year Sam and Mingo had combined:
    12.5 sacks
    21.5 TFL
    75 tackles

While, for ex, 3rd R pick aTm DE Damontre Moore by himself had:
    12.5 sacks
    21.0 TFL
    85 tackles

Rasco was 4-time Louisiana All-State, Louisiana Defensive Player of the Year, U.S. Army All-American, etc..and Hunter might even be better than him

They severely underperformed last year. They got drafted based on their 2011 performance, and they knew it would happen that way all along. They did just well enough that year to get fat and happy without bringing home the hardware. That's a tough spot for a kid to work through.

I know many are worried about the down 4 on the DL, the newcomers will be just fine coming in competing for positions. Look at last years production, the top two leaders in tackles were LB'ers Minter and Barrow (130 and 104 tackles). The next three players with tackles were DB's, Reid, Mills and Loston (91,57 and 55 tackles). Of thoses 5 leading tacklers, we return 3. We return 12 of the top 20 tacklers from last year.

Another way to look at this.....

In 2011 the top three tacklers were TM7, Reid and Brandon Taylor (Tackles for each were 76,76 and 71). The year before their total tackles were 57, 32 and 44. Last years top two Minter(130)and Barrow(104), the year befores totals, 61 and 17. Minter more than doubled his tackles and Barrow went from 17 to over 100.

Some are gonna step forward, it happens every year, thats football. Remember this, one of the lowest rated recruits from last year class finished 4th on the team in tackles and started every game as the true freshman. What freshman will come in an seize the opportunity this year?

I prefer it when our DBs don't HAVE to tackle.

(just busting your balls a lil')

I believe the "underproductive" season for Mingo and Montgomery actually was caused by the hype around them which in turn caused them to be double teamed freeing our LB's to make those 200+ tackles. I hope the trend continues. Our D was not the problem the 3 and outs was! Hunter and Rasco will be fine and the 2 deeps behind them are more than capable. Come on TCU
