Rival 3 star rated 16th best all purpose back who is committed to FSU....he said Miles and his staff have made significant progress, particularly Larry Porter. Gonna take an official to BR in January but its still down to LSU and FSU. Anyone heard anything about this kid??? He has been committed to FSU since April and he was totally off my radar.
Wouldn't be a bad signing....then again, how many 6'1" all-purpose RB's that run a 4.4-forty WOULD be considered a bad signing???? Get him Tiger Town...redshirt him to get some seperation between him and the rest of the running backs already on campus and then prepare for the future! :thumb:
these all purpose athletes are always great gets since you might end up with either an exceptional WR or DB.
We didn't have a RB last year and none so far this year either (unless I'm mistaken) so would be a good get. People haven't made a fuss about it because of the depth we have at RB currently and also all the great RB's in Louisiana next year, but still would be nice to pickup a solid RB/ATH type guy this year as well.
Just watched his highlight film on rivals. Guys got some good moves and catches the ball well. Looks like a taller version of Richard Murphy...or maybe a thinner version of Richard Murphy. The one negative about Thomas' highlights is that he looks to run a little too upright...and that's not much of a big deal as it's something that can be corrected at the next level.
I don't see why we would take him over Jericho Nelson, or why we would even take a rb in this class that is not Darrell Scott. Next year will be our class for rb's. No need to clutter the backfield even more when we have Michael Ford and others probably coming to LSU in the next class.
LSU will get a great class of RBs next year but LSU desperately needs a RB just for overall depth concerns. When KW, Scott and Murphy are gone, it'd be nice to have some upperclassmen leadership as well.
Absolutely! And just because he comes as an "all-purpose back" doesn't mean he can't do like RJ Jackson and be used as a slot receiver--or line up in the backfield in passing downs. Granted, they haven't used RJ a whole lot, but I think some of that has to do with his rehab from knee injury. Plus, you're still forgetting that special teams play a VERY important role and even though you think you might view going after a RB in this class, when '09 is loaded, as a waste of time, you still have to figure that you also need good special team guys....and at the very least, a 6-1, 190-200 lbs. player with 4.4-speed would make an excellent special team player early in his career.
