Reminds me of the old Bama/Bear joke: The Bear was in his tower one day at practice railing about how HIS team would never be integrated and he would keep the Crimson Tide lilly white while his backs and receivers ran 100 yard sprints. A young black kid, being chased by (presumably white, racist) thugs, ran onto the field when the majority of the backs and receivers had about a 10 yard head start on him and walked them down, crossing the goal line a good 15 yards ahead of any of the Bama boys. The Bear turns to the assistant who had been listening to his diatribe and says, "My God, look at that young man run. Get down there and find out that Indian's name."
You could go ahead and add another 10 pages to it.....he's watching though, I see you out there Martin! Come back and play my little harlot.....
For the record, neither Manti Teo nor Tyrann Mathieu were at Radio City Music Hall for the NFL draft. So neither of them could have been booed off the stage.
Yeah, i listened to it on the radio while driving at about 6pm, so i couldn't see what happened. But when Teo's name was called, Radio City Music Hall exploded into boos, i was stunned. The radio announcer was stunned. All he could say was "Wow." And then the radio announcers were silent as the boos continued to rain down. I didn't hear the TM7 pick, but i haven't hear anybody saying he got booed.
ESPN: Manti Te'o...provided the sizzle ...Radio City Music Hall shook with the kind of noise usually heard in stadiums ... The theater rocked ... a loud roar ...
What is Jeremy Hill like as a person? I've heard positive spin on his two incidents, which I can somewhat buy into given the specifics. However, I haven't really seen anyone defend him with anything similar to "He's a good kid that comes from a good family and was just in the wrong place at the wrong time". If he's a decent guy at his core, I'm hoping he gets past this and goes on to success at LSU and the NFL. If not, I think we should cut him loose and will be fine with Blue, Hilliard, and Magee. Without knowing Hill at all and pure speculation, he reminds me a little of Kevin Faulk. Faulk had some issues in high school and college but matured to become a decent person (as far as I'm aware - assuming Belichek wouldn't have kept a trouble maker around for so long).
Put it this way, it was one of those moments that was so shocking that I'll never forget where i was, what i was doing, who i was with, etc when it happened If i was a wealthy ND booster, I'd be tempted to pay Teo NOT not play in the NFL after witnessing how the NFL welcomed him.
All that I have heard is that this wasn't the first time he acted like an ass at a local bar. I think he may have had some other incident at whatever the hell the name is now of the old Stadium Club. Seems I remember he twitted something to the effect of "fuck that place". Why anyone with half a brain would still go out in Tigerland is beyond me.
