Yes they offered Rondo and Allen for Prince, Hamilton and Stuckey. Detroit turned it down.

The Spurs needed to get younger, but Jefferson isnt the answer, he doesnt do anything paticularly well. He is just a great athlete with sub-par basketball skills imo

prime reason of why 80% of the NBA GM's don't have a clue what they're doing.

    Milwaukee's GM fits the bill.

"Yeah, let's take the Spurs' trash for Richard Jefferson."

Teams are ruining themselves while waiting for 2010. There are only 6-7 big fish. So if 20-25 teams are trying to have space, then that means 17-20 teams will be left in the dust with nothing.

yeah but clair, alot of teams are dumping contracts these days, or trading for players that have a year left on their contract, thats why wally sczerbiak (spelling) was such a hot commodity because his contract was almost up, and they can just dump them for the extra cap space. The Suns wanted to trade Shaq to Cleveland for Wally only because of the financial gain.

    cap space for what?

    That's my point.

Will any free agent that is better than Richard Jefferson really say: "Geez, I want to play in Milwaukee," when there will be 10-15 other cities that can offer him the same money?

The cap space is crucial for the next free agent season, thats why you see alot of perceived dumb moves, teams are dumping big contracts right now.

    I fully understand that.

I just think in Milwaukee's case, you'll see no one wanting the $ they can offer and you'll see the big names go elsewhere and they will be left to sign a player who isn't Jefferson's caliber anyway.

There is only one Lebron, only one Wade, only one Amare in 2010.

Every team with cap space can't cash in.

Thats the point not that many will have the cap space to sign those guys, maybe 4 teams at the most. The rest will sign guys like Jefferson and make deals to make their teams marginally better the next season, but not in the long run.

People don't realize just how good Richard Jefferson is, because he is buried in Milwaukee on a horrible team.

Dude played 82 games in 2007 and averaged 23 points per game.
Dude played 82 games in 2008 and averaged 20 points per game.

    Dude is 28.

Not fully sure why people think RJ is over the hill.

Especially when you consider the Spurs literally gave up NOTHING to get him.

The kid is 6-foot-7-inches and is a 47% career shooter who shot 40% from 3 last year.

Looks like the Spurs are a title contender again next year to me.

    PG. Parker
    SG. Manu
    SF. Jefferson
    PF. Duncan
    C. Gooden

That looks real good to me.
