During Mile's monday press conference, he was talking about JJ and the deep ball, about how they let JJ throw deep so much against ULL, how they told him to "chuck it" downfield. Yeah, as we all saw (and ESPNU even pointed out in a little highlight-clip segment right before the second half began)... JJ was not very accurate on these deep passes, often over-throwing his reciever). Les said that JJ has been hitting those passes every time in practice and that the problem was that JJ just got too excited at seeing his man open in the game and it affected his throws. He said that JJ has all the physical tools necessary to be a very good QB.
Coach says a lot. :hihi: LOL but seriously, I have no doubt the game will slow down for him. The O-Line and Fullback progression will be the determining factor in how QUICKLY that happens.
Exactly what you think he's suggesting. For the record, Jefferson got in during the Troy game and promptly went 1-6. Those were an ugly 5 incompletions. He wasn't ready then, and probably still isn't ready at this point to do everything that LSU's quarterbacks need to do in Crowton's system.
When you make racist posts I will continue to call you out on them. If that makes me an Internet message board cocksu&$&@, so be it.
1st down passing stats: (61.3% completion on 1st downs) 7/31 passes attempted on 1st down resulted in a 1st down. 2nd down passing stats: (62.5% completion on 2nd downs) 9/24 passes attempted on 2nd down resulted in a 1st down. 3rd down passing stats: (Ranked #9) 13/18 - 128 yards. 72.2% completion (1 TD/0 INT) Longest: 30 yds 9/18 passes attempted on 3rd down resulted in a 1st down 15+: 2 25+: 1 His stats are alright -- he's got a ways to go. He doesn't have near the confidence in his arm that Lee has.. but his feet give us a huge weapon especially with lackluster OL play. My only complaint is that he has a long delivery.. Lee threw lasers. I'd like to see Lee get in the game and get a series or two to see how he runs this offense.. if he's learned to check down he would be a weapon.
Thank God... Although Saturday night I saw him try to force some passes that he doesn't normally make. The good thing is that he throws his short passes with a lot of zip and it makes it harder for defenders to pick off. The bad news is that teams like Auburn and Florida will pick off some of those passes. He threw some dangerous ones on Saturday much like Lee did last year. For the most part though, he's pretty accurate on all his short stuff. Even when he's not, the ball is still pretty catchable and that's also a positive. He definitely needs to work on the longer passes though (although the 21-yard TD to LaFell was a strike). I don't mean to keep focusing on Lee's mistakes last year because I've seen many players return to do very good things. He could too. I wish Lee would have had a chance to play more on Saturday because we may very well need him at some point. It would be good to get him in there and get some confidence flowing. But we've got to get our regular O playing consistent first.
