Because it is apples and oranges. We screwed with a QB that wasnt ready. If he came in this year against these teams and threw these passes it wouldnt be much different.
Much better because the running game was hitting on all cylinders from game 1. Why? because of the offensive line. Also he has been sacked in every game this season. Twice against Vandy. His running ability is the reason why he hasnt been sacked more. And im here to remind people that he isnt making the same mistakes that we were plagued by last year and to give him a chance.
gotta disagree. people were calling for Lee's head in the 1st half against Auburn last year. not many people that i've read are wanting Lee to take over just yet. they're just grumbling that we don't seem to have the big play ability that we've become accustomed to. Jefferson has done well so far. Minimal mistakes, which is a huge plus. only question remains is can he get the job done in a game where he has to win it for us, or bring us back from a 2 score deficit with his arm? we don't know that yet. that's not saying he can't, or won't be able to, he just hasn't been put in that situation. we know Lee can do that. But we also know Lee can play a big part in putting us in that situation to beginwith.
Staring down guys leads to INTs. How many times do you see DBs drop balls? It happens a lot. The reason Lee's bad throws were INTs and not drops or PDs is because they DB saw it coming and knew the ball was going to be there and they were just as prepared for the ball as the receiver was. JJ doesn't do that as much, so his ball is harder to intercept.
or is the D good enough to win games when the O scores 17 pts because there is no deep threat. the D may play a huge factor in the qb decision. because if you need to score 40, id say the chance is better with lee.
I'd say our D is back to where a game-managing, clock-controlling offense will get the job done most of the time. I think that if we can get to the back end of the season with no more than one loss then we'll be A-okay in the championships race because JJ will only get better as the season goes along.
You're totally missing the point. Drew Brees throws interceptions occassionally because he takes CALCULATED risks knowing that his skills will more often than not result in a positive outcome. My point is that Jefferson, who has said that ball securty is his number one concern, needs the confidence to continue to go deep. And he needs to develop the skill to hit the receivers. Playing safe will RESULT in interception (he's been very, very lucky in at least 3 or 4 instances). CBs eventually figure out that they can jump a bubble screen and take it the distance (sound familiar)?
I agree. JJ seems to be able to check down more. He just does it too slow. He also doesn't recognize the open receiver in time.
