This. JJ will never be an all-american type QB. But he showed that he can be comfortable enough running the O to win games.

Look at the game again... his completions where on passes to the first option... his scrambles were when that person was not open.

I agree completely. I would like to see a more wide-open offense next week against WV. I think JJ can get the job done.

If you say so. He was 10/16 with 2 easy catches being dropped. He threw 1 really bad pass, the slant near the end of the 2nd quarter that was almost picked off and 1 bad pass, the fade to Tolliver that was thrown early.

If those 2 drops are caught he has over 150 yards with 1 passing TD and instead of kicking a field goal we have another shot at a TD.

Did he scramble? Yes he did but he didn't take off immediately, he waited and then took off.

I like what I saw tonight, although I still want the coaches to let him throw in the red zone and wouldn't mind seeing Lee for a couple of drives.

Yes indeed. I sincerely hope the coaches stop 'simplifying' the O so much that it constrains JJ. Just let him play...he'll make mistakes, but he'll gain the confidence he needs (and will not get if he's constantly babied).

JJ looked good on those few drives when they let him just play. He will not set the world on fire, but I think he can indeed be a very good field general.

I was just agreeing with geauxgeaux that JJ developing into a "manage the game" QB would be sufficient with his support cast, that's all Didn't say he was there YET.:thumb:

    This.

I just can't help but wonder that when the meat of the SEC schedule shows up, if the coaching will start to show... for the worse.

Although the stat's didn't say it, I think he showed a lot of improvement. I can only think of one bad decision when he actually passed it and that was when a man came free and he almost threw a pick. I would have preferred he throw it away a couple of times, but for when we called upon him, I liked what I saw. Could use a bit more touch but his receivers could have helped out a bit more. Now play calling at certain points in the game were not that great but overall I feel the O was much improved and if they can continue to improve then I am completely satisfied with the performance tonight.
