Don't see what it would hurt to give Jarrett Lee a half to see what he looks like. Not against West Virginia, though.
Overall I liked what I saw and saw a lot of improvement with JJ. I think it comes down to our team being as good as the coaches will let them be. When the let him go he came through.
Great considering 2 drops from shep which were 1st downs/td.. Mostly due to coaching holding him back... I think the plays break open next week...
I have no problem with JJ's play tonight. He threw the ball well, and made good decisions with the ball. I do have a problem with what clearly seems to be a lack of confidence in JJ on the part of whoever ultimately decides what plays to run. 1st half, plodding predictable offense can't find the end zone. 2nd half, a more balanced attacked puts it in the end zone twice. Hopefully, The Hat and company will take a lesson from tonight and give JJ more to work with.
Shep should've caught both of those. I think he showed marked improvement, quicker reads, sharper passes, actually ran the zone read well, and had good pocket presence. Was he spectacular? No. But if he continues to play like tonight I'm comfortable saying we can win 11 games.
