JJ has proved that he makes good decisions without trying to force anything. He definitely seems like he has football knowledge and can be coached. My only two concerns for JJ right now is the amount of hits he takes in a game. They can't all be avoided, but darn they need to teach that kid to slide. My other concern, as has been mentioned by others, is JJ's deep pass. Last game he went deep 4 times. 1st pass was too short, next two were too long, and last one was an interception that was called back due to holding. That doesn't inspire much confidence. However, I'm not really to say that JJ will never get it right. Our OLine hasn't done JJ ANY favors at all. Maybe if he felt more comfortable that our line wouldn't colapse everytime he takes a hike then he might be able to get a little more touch on his passes.
Reading between the lines of Miles' recent press quotes, I wonder if maybe JJ himself isn't being too conserative, even for Miles and Crowton. Clearly the play calling seems to have been of the walk-before-you-run variety. But maybe not as much as it appears. Maybe JJ checks down even when Miles wants him to air it out and throw a strike in reasonable coverage downfield. Because he watched Lee suffer last year and he doesn't want to be act 2 of that drama. This is one of the main reasons I think JJ is about to add 100 yards of passing to his game stats (and throw a few picks) very soon. I think the coaches are going to tell him we cannot beat Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Alabama and Ole Miss without a credible deep ball threat. And they're going to tell him he has to establish that in the next two games.
Ok, Here's the deal with Pryor. He has talent around him. Just because you haven't heard their names yet, doesn't mean you won't by the end of the season. We are four to six deep at wide reciever, all of whom are very talented, but unproven. If you make the claim that he has no proven talent around him, I will buy that. As for Pryor himself...The mental aspects of his game are curious to me. I don't buy the Vick crap, just a kid (who, judging from several other comments as well, needs to take a few communications classes to better organize his thoughts before he speaks) sticking up for a childhood idol. Like it, don't like it, whatever...Obviously wish he had chosen his words a little more wisely. At times, his footwork and throwing motion are fine, and he has made some very nice throws, including a really nice touch on a ball to Posey over the linebackers that put us in position for what wound up being a FG (should've been a TD, but that's for a different thread The problem is that he is not making presnap reads consistently, and appears to get rattled because of one of two things. These issues are in the forefront of my mind, and while I may be in the minority in Columbus regarding them, here goes. 1. He gets frustrated when he doesn't dominate, or frustrated by mistakes. The TD drive immediately after his pick the other night would seem to contradict this, but it was obvious in the second half that he was frustrated, and this seemed to seriously affect his mechanics and decision making. Composure is the difference between being a HS juggernaut and a CFB dynamo. 2. I have heard a few whispers that he doesn't like to get hit, or avoids contact. This theory (until I actually watch for it, I'm not sold yet). This is based on the concept that when pressure comes, him throwing off the back foot is equivalent to flinching, or wincing, b/c he's worried too much about the contact coming. Coach Tressel did a great job bringing along Troy Smith (regardless of the final verdict on Troy---who I think is a solid NFL QB who got hurt at the wrong time and hopefully will be traded to somewhere he can have a chance to play). It remains to be seen what will happen with Pryor, but I'm a buckeye, so obviously I have faith that he will get it together. He had great composure last year against Wisky, so despite the fact he hasn't played great overall in high pressure games, the potential is there. He Can Do It...the difference is making the jump from potential to talent. Good luck to the Tigers! Still pullin for you to Kick Gator A!@ Go Bucks!
That throw was absolutely perfect. I kept flipping back and forth, and i had never heard anything about Pryor being soft, until Musberger said something about it when he ran for a first down either late in the 3rd or early in the 4th. I think Pryor is a talent for sure, but i am not really sure how he fits in Ohio State's scheme. It seems that Ohio State's offense is more geared to a pocket passer. I also think he would have more success if he had big physical wide receivers to block downfield when he has to run. That being said, i still gotta go with Jefferson because i have seen more with the arm, his ability to refrain from turning the ball over, and logistical bias. We will do our best against UF but you guys have to bring unhappiness to happy valley!
Most of his post was his opinion based on plays that happened. You do know what an opinion is, right? He is has his opinion which I don't necessarily agree but it's his opinion. My god go back to the cave, humans now walk upright. Yeah I am sure they are getting the Heisman ready for him. Those 2 yard passes that are going for negative yards now are quite impressive. Now that screams greatness. If it's your opinion he is great, that's fine by me, I don't get it all but it's your opinion.
Told you! It took a little longer than usual, but its here. Im still waiting to see the post where I said Jefferson will win the Heisman........................................................................ It screams 2-0 with no ints. you scream stupidity.
So what? You are implying that I am saying he is bad. I never said you said he would win the Heisman in this post. I bet you'll continue to post. You know we are on a forum. I bet someone will post in this forum. Big baby doesn't like someone with a different opinion so he throws a fit like a huge baby. Can't wait to see the crying again. Mommy mommy he doesn't agree with me.
Well hopefully this is planned and not a case of JJ afraid to pull the trigger. If its fear of failure those receivers might get frustrated. Lafell seemed a little frustrated in the UDub game. Even as far as the INT's go, it's going to happen. No QB never throws INTs. It's important to minimize mistakes, but it's also important to give your playmakers a chance to make plays even if it means throwing when they're closely guarded. That's really the only way a QB can learn to "put the ball where only your guy can get it." Brady and Manning are masters at this now, but they had to take their lumps first, and they still throw picks on occasion. It's part of the game.
And your implying I said he was going to win the Heisman. Also you have said they needed to play Lee because of his performance. I have no problem with peoples opinion. I do have a problem with pure and plain stupidity top with a heap of ignorance. And dont contradict yourself as long as you have a stupid opinion and then I'll rebut it with a smart one. After all it is a forum.
The only reason that was mentioned is you think anyone that disagrees with you is stupid. No, I don't think you think he will win the Heisman but you are acting like it in your responses. I never said any such thing. Matter of fact I have said Jefferson should be given a shot... oh but you skip over that or you fail to read or fail to comprehend. You don't mind a opinion unless you agree with it, that is what you are saying. If you don't like it, then it's stupid. Why do you come out on a forum... stand in from of the mirror and talk to yourself... that is really what you want. You are being a huge baby and that is basically caveman mentality. I mean you don't even bother to read, you think I said Lee NEEDS to play because of performance... never ever said those words or even implied that. Matter of fact I have said the exact opposite, but you fail to comprehend. STOP BE SO DEFENSIVE IF SOMEONE DISAGREES WITH YOU, its ok, it's call a forum.
