Not yours specifically. My point about your post was that I disagree with you about JL getting another chance in the Bama game. There are many valid resaons and ways to criticise.
Too many seem to have a visceral reaction to JJ and that bothers me. I hope we recognise that what ever their strengths and faults these young men have given their hearts and bodies and souls to LSU. That should always be first in our minds whether it is Matt Flynn or Josh Booty or TB Hebert or JL or JJ.

Last i saw, not a single high school quaterback has had to play against a SEC defense in his high school career.. My point is the talents that he's shown in high school would lead scouts to believe he could be sucessful at that position. For both JJ and JL to imrove the way they did with just one summer of working with a real qb coach would lead me to believe he hasn't reached his ceiling..

I think jj won't make it in the NFL. There are only 32 teams in the NFL. With first and second string players that's 64 qb's. A qb can play for ten years. With all the back ups and practice team qb's there may be a little over a hundred qb's on the NFL payroll. I may be off a little but I think I'm in the ballpark.

You have to be exceptional to be an NFL qb, even on the practice team. Jj is doing a good job here at lsu. I wish he was first round quality. We all want to see a qb from lsu play in the NFL. The truth is that out of the 120 fbs teams, only a couple a year make it. Out of those only one or two from each class make it over three years.

To think jj will be one of those is wishful thinking. It's a dream. I'm not dogging jj. He's way more of an athlete than I will ever be. It's not a dis on jj that he doesn't make the NFL. Very few do. I'm glad he got to live the dream. Good luck to him.

On the other hand, fang's insistance that jj will make the NFL and be a starting qb is wishful thinking. Comparing him to future hall of fame qb Tom Brady is another thing all together.

I'm not sure about this. There are plenty of mediocre QB's on NFL teams.

Matt Flynn is a back-up in Green Bay, and though he was a good QB for us, would anyone have accused him of being "exceptional'?

hey now, i don't see where he said JJ would be a starting qb and his mention of Brady was pretty easy to understand, I see you're wanting to put words in his mouth with what you're implying.. Getting drafted in the NFL doesn't mean ever being a starter and saying no one expected Brady to do what he is doing isn't saying JJ is in the same class as him..

You smell what I'm stepping in. JR was drafted # 1 overall and how did he turn out? Jefferson seems to have gotten better each and every offseason and that is from work ethic and dedication. For people to write him off after this year is a mistake and a lack Of faith in ones own. I said drafted not rewrite every passing record in the book. Look at all the crappy QBs starting in the NFL this week, tell me that Jefferson isn't more capable then what Seartle, KC, Indy, Miami, Houston, kitna, mark Brunell on and on have suiting up. I'm right Jefferson is an NFL asset and you know this. Can't wait to buy his jersey!

This discussion is amazing. No Way JJ is a NFL QB. Based on your argument, Herb Tyler should have been drafted. See stats below.

    Herb Tyler Stats
    26-5 record at LSU
    40 passing TD's
    23 rushing TD's
    773 career yds rushing
    Passed for over 5,800 yds
Had a career completion percentage of 60.7%

    Jordan Jefferson Stats
    36-8 record at LSU
    4,650 passing yds
    33 Rushing TD's
    12 rushing TD's
    57.9% completion percentage
    1008 rushing yds

People forget Tom Brady was a benefactor on those three Super Bowls. He was not "THE" Tom Brady yet. He was no his way, but those teams were built on defense and running the football. It took Brady a while for the game to slow down. His greatest asset was that he was a game manager. He wouldn't win many games for you but he wasn't losing them. Adam Viniateri (sp?) was their main guy. The Patriots were a timely team. Timely first downs. Timely defensive stops (Troy Brown...a WR coming in on defense and getting an INT). When Brady became "THE" Tom Brady that everyone is raving about, they lost a Super Bowl and haven't sniffed it since because...and noone wants to acknowledge this because you risk scourging the great Tom Brady...he choked. He choked in AFC title games as the man. He choked in the Super Bowl against the Giants. He choked in an divisional game.

He is an all-time great. But he was akin to Trent Dilfer for the majority of those Super Bowl runs. This year cemented for me that Peyton Manning is indeed the better QB.

Not saying that means JJ will make it to the NFL, but the comparisons are unfair. Tom Brady has been THE Tom Brady since around the middle of 2004 and they won a Super Bowl that year over Philly. Before that...benefactor of a great coach and great system = 3 Super Bowls. His stats were pretty pedestrian those years. Something in the neighborhood of 3600 yds. and 25 TDs on average. Not bad, but not great. Point being, nobody thought Brady could do it, and he did it. BUT, it took him a while to become this juggernaut we all know now.

I think both JJ and JL could be drafted. Neither will be first round draft picks ... but drafted ... yeah .. I could see it.

Who are we to say. .... it depends on what they are looking for.

JJ's looking pretty good these days. His ability to scramble is a plus. Sure .. he doesn't have a Drew Brees release [dang that guy is good], but this is not to say that he can't be effective.
