Last week Jeff Gordon tied Dale Earnhardt in wins of NASCAR Cups series wins. After the race Jeff Gordon took a victory lap holding the number 3 flag out the window of his car. Lots of fans were booing and bashing him for it. I myself am a Jeff Gordon hater, but I personally thought it was very classy of him to do that. Just a thought, If the fans in Phoenix were throwing stuff on the track at him for that, what you think would happen if he won this weekend at Talledega to pass Dale?
I, too am not a JG fan, but I liked what he did. He showed his respect for the best NASCAR driver to ever sit behind the wheel. And if Im not mistaken, Dale Jr. met with JG in victory lane. But, Neck-car fans showed their stupidity by bashing JG for tying DE. I know Dale is their GOD, but records are made to be broken. Not to change the subject, but what do you think will happen when Barry Bonds ties and breaks Hank Aaron's HR record and runs around the field holding an Aaron jersey? Especially if it's in ATL or Milwaukee!!!! They better have some EXTREME security that night!
I thought it was classy. A lot of those guys would find a way to boo Jeff Gordon for everything he does. I am indifferent on the guy. I don't see a whole lot of reasons to like or hate him.
I can not stand Gordon but it was fairly classy and showed respect. I also read an article that Dale Jr and his sister had given Gordon permission to do it long ago and that the #3 flag has been in the Gordon team truck for the last 75 races waiting for him to tie the record. http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/news/story?seriesId=2&id=2848249
Talledega is Earnhardt country and they can't stand Gordon. It didn't help that he passed Sr on the all-time win list.
Talledega is a rampant chit hole for one tooth backwoods simpletons. It also didnt help that it was Sr's birthday yesterday.
I've yet to see Livingston Parish residents on national television showing their displeasure in the outcome of a sporting event by pelting the winner with beer cans, but I might have missed it.
