The Saints really need to look at getting rid of David before the man starts getting death threats. He is godawful! As far as the Saints D goes I dont think we will see the finished product during the preseason.
David is totally miscast as a man-to-man CB. He needs to be on a cover 2 team. If McKenzie's not ready for the opener, I see our starters being Gay and Glenn. McKenzie eventually replaces Glenn, and if Gay turns out to be not up to playing on the outside, Usama Young may push him, with Gay going to the nickel. But if we don't start generating some pass rush, it won't matter who we have in the secondary.
I actually was at the game last night. Found tix for $16 on the exchange so I brought the kids to their first game. My kids are now totally hooked on football. My son thinks Reggie is like superman. As for Jason David, he was clueless out there. He cannot defend anyone by himself. I'm mean seriously, their 3rd string WR made our starter look silly. I think/pray that the only reason he is still starting is so that he can play his way off the roster. With his cap number they have to give him every chance to improve before cutting him (even tho I thought he did that last year). Vilma did look promising. He is the clear leader on that defense, and Sedric Ellis is gonna be great. Funny how Mark Cambell plays like man on a mission now that he's got a real TE ahead of him on the depth chart.
What I mean is this D we are seeing now is just a patchwork with no real reason as to why certain players are in at certain times, and come the first game the real new and improved D will step onto the field.
