I dont know about you, but I'm not buying into jordan jefferson. I would drather have jarrett lee out there for throwing 200+ yards and a couple of TD's than seeing jordan jefferson eat grass 3 plays in a row.:cuss:

Btw, Jarrett Lee put up 21 points against florida last year, in Gainesville.

Just my opinion, what do you think ?

If he throws a pick 6 then bench him at least give it a shot, im tired of seeing jefferson the "mobile" quarterback eating grass every play. At least JL would give us the opportunity to get in field position.

Well, for one that was called an idiot before the season for saying I thought Jefferson's ability was suspect.... what did I know? :) Actually I am not happy about somewhat calling this one even though I was getting blasted for it on this forum.

With that said, I still thought Jefferson deserved a chance, these two weeks SHOULD have been used to reevaluate the QB situation. Unfortunately, I think any QB you put in there is going to suffer while Crowton is there or whoever you guys think is running the offensive show. Either way it looks like Les is going to ride this horse until it falls over completely.

As far as the 3 main QBs that I know about.

Jefferson - is probably good enough to get you 7-10 wins a season if you keep the talent around him very high and he does not turn the ball over. Sure there is plenty of stuff for him to improve on but his big weaknesses can't be coach out ie huge throwing mechanics and kind of weak arm when not given enough room to setup to throw. His biggest strength is he doesn't turn the ball over but unless there is serious improvements in his whole game the offense is going to look like crap.

Lee - NFL type arm but stares down receivers and makes a few bad decisions. Can basically make any throw on the field as far as I can see but he does not realize he should NOT try and make some of those throws.

Shepard - Just off what I have seen tape of him... is simply not a QB. I think the sooner he realizes that the sooner his real college career will start. The kid seems to have a great attitude and I think even if he is never a super star he just seems like a great player to have on the team.

The biggest weakness on the offense other than the run blocking is the Crowton, anyone that can basically run to the short-side of the field 90%+ of the time on option plays really should not be involved in play calling. He was still doing it in the Florida game. What I said woudn't work generally in the SEC... that is Scott up the middle I actually liked against Florida. Scott didn't look great but he was getting movement up front and getting about 3-4 yards a carry... probably one of the few times I would have liked that play called.

What I am sick of hearing is the QB just needs to get the ball to the playmakers... hogwash. Those like WR screens I said wouldn't be there after a few games are not there and you have to be able to hit a guy in stride. I think that is the most overused quote in football, sure that might work when you are playing way overmatched teams... not going to work against Florida and Alabama type teams most of the time.

I am ready to see a running game and normal football sets. I don't like all that standing up and looking over. Coach Mac would turn over in his grave if he saw all this stuff going on.

Call a play and run it. I would put some tude into my guys and do what ever I had to do to get that line moving forward. Charles the truck is ready to haul the load and I don't see passing to set up the run with this bunch.

Run the ball and run it hard!!! Put RS or Ford in the backfield to bring a fresh look! Do something in the running game to break up what Auburn expects us to do.

I assure you JJ will look like a QB once he knows he is on a running based football team that lives off of play action.

That being said if the standing up looking over thing works roll with it but if I had to vote I would throw it out and go with basic play calling.

Generally agree with your post. The look over to the sidelines is a killer... I said something about this in week one. Crowton wants to be known as genius.

The best play call of the year was Lee with the play action on the 1 yard line.

I was suspect on him before the season and I am about 80-90% sure now he will have a hard time even being a average QB but who knows... looks like Les is going to ride him... which should be good enough for 8-10 wins this year.

Things that JJ can be coached on:
    - Don't take that deep a drop in the pocket, who does he think he is J. Russell
    - Go through progressions, I don't think I have seen him do that yet... it's basically one WR and if that isn't there the play is dead.
    - Step up in the pocket when the pressure comes from the outside
    - Look down field when stepping up so you can throw

Things he is just going to have to get a feel for:
    - When you decide to run, well run... not this half-ass stuff... this happens in both the option and pass plays

Things that he can't be coached on:
    - Huge mechanics in throwing... ie Jason Campbell and Aaron Brooks
    - Not a strong arm unless he has ample room

I thought Lee was just a little inexperienced and to be frank just wasn't ready, I suspect Jefferson just doesn't have the ability. Jefferson is the safe bet but eventually this will come to a head.
