I see your points and you're entitled to your opinion. I agree with you about the OC being the biggest issue right now too. But you forgot horrible inaccuracy at times as one of the problems with Lee. Lee was dead last in completion % for starting QBs in the SEC. Vandy had a guy that was lower, but he was injured/replaced (and Vandy didn't pass much anyway). That's been my biggest thing with Lee. He can make some big throws at times and get on a roll. But too often he is off like you can't believe (like the pass where they called off the P.I. against Bama because it almost went into the upper deck).
Something to consider when looking at stat... context... what pass plays does the OC call in the game with Lee in there vs. when Jefferson is in. You don't see the OC call WR screens, that makes the percentage go up even if the WR loses yardage. They say numbers don't lie, that is a lie.... look at stats in context. Flynn 07 QB rating 125 Lee 08 QB rating 115 One guy won a national championship, the other guy had his own fans throw him under the bus. What the numbers don't tell you is context. At the end of the day, we can talk about this all we want... you are going to see 8-9 guys in the box until someone can throw a pass 6-14 yards down the field and hit the receiver in stride on a regular basis... I don't care who the guy is. I am not necessarily saying Lee won't throw picks tomorrow... far from it. If Lee has a bad game tomorrow, I figure his career is over at LSU. As far as Jefferson, if he continues to not turn over the ball he probably has a few more games before the fans throw him under the bus. Nice talking to you BTW, I don't necessarily agree with all your points but I see where you are coming from and you are at least friendly to talk to.
Keep this in mind. Throwing motions, defenses, pass rush, whatever else you want aside, this is a stone cold fact: In the last 40 years, teams that finish the game with a positive turnover ratio win the game 80% of the time. I'll take the guy who doesn't give the ball away.
I'll leave it up to the coaches to decide on the QB, but I am looking forward to the competition in the spring.
i wonder why LSU can't ever get a flat-out awesome QB. this is NO knock on jefferson, lee, flynn or russell (or anyone,) but how come a school like LSU never seems to be able to get an all-world QB? JL was supposed to be one out of high school. Russell was more physical than anything. shepard doesn't have the arm. flynn was a VERY VERY pleasant surprise. jefferson... see notes on JR. this garrett kid supposedly has a great arm, we'll see. other schools seem to be able to get decent QBs that may not be high on the recruiting lists, but can complete an accurate pass. it seems to me that LSU usually targets the biggest athletes (which is a GOOD thing,) but i'd really like to see a kid like ryan mallett or even someone like colt mccoy. colt was a decent all-state QB in texas hs, but it wasn't like he was the second coming. or even case keenum who was, i believe, a 2-star QB.
