The things he needs to get better at is impossible, that huge mechanic and huge stance while throwing. Which is why the Aaron Brooks and Jason Campbells of the world usually end up struggling somewhere. He can get better at other things but he will always be limited by those which kind of hurts once the defense has figured it out. We all have limitations, not everyone was built to be a quarterback. He is playing hard, that is what I like from all of LSU's players. I am not knocking the guy... I think it's a choice and it's not my choice to make. And some times all of our choices suck, that's life.
This isn't the NFL though. Tim Tebow has horrible mechanics but you cannot deny that he has won games with his arm and his accuracy at times. Jefferson can be a successful college quarterback. And those mechanics may not get him drafted and on an NFL team, but he definitely can be a success at this level, and lead us to an SEC championship and possibly national championship.
ESPN reporting Lee will start vs Tech, I dont have the link, just too lazy. nevermind here it is... http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4652335
Sure it's possibly, I mean technically you could run the Scott up the middle play next year with Ridley and pray for 10 yard gains... I would say improbable. Just my guess. I think he has enough talent to get you to 7-10 wins if your talent is very high, which LSU's is. As far as Tebow, not going to be a QB in the NFL, he has enough of an arm and quick throw to keep the defense honest in college. He can get the ball to his receivers when he has to. Tebow's running ability sets up his throws, you see now teams are no longer scared of him running now they are playing the pass and it's not going so well. At the end of the day you don't need Peyton Manning, you need a guy that can hit a few guys on a regular basis IN STRIDE. You do that, then you are threat.... WR Screens are no threat when everyone knows you are coming with it. I have no problem if you want Jefferson in there next year... like I said get use to 8-9 in the box... that is what every team is doing... I called it at the beginning of the year. As far as Lee, he could very well throw 5 picks tomorrow, heck I don't know what he is going to do. If Lee has a horrible game then you run the Spring with Jefferson, Garrett and maybe Shepard. If Lee has a very good game then you have to think it's at least an option in the Spring and I would think the coach's can't allow a forever stance with Jefferson. Just my take.
You are right Crompton is a senior. But Snead and McElroy are juniors. Garcia and Mallet are sophomores and all are higher on the SEC passing list than Jefferson.
Tebow drops his arm way too far below his waist when he throws and that isn't something that can be fixed based on your logic either. If Jason Campbell can lead a team to an undefeated season in the SEC, so can Jefferson. I have seen Jefferson complete a bunch of passes this season that have been really accurate, remember he is a sophomore, and he has improved week after week. If we can get the run game figured out, then look out, its going to open things up for our guy. Don't give up on him man, i am telling you, this team is going to be a threat next season, hell we were this season.
Mallet is a stud, dude is 70 bazillion feet tall and has a cannon. I would love to have him as my quarterback. Garcia throws way too many picks, and has a bunch of yards because he throws like 50 times a game.
Auburn did it with defense, not with Jason Campbell. Campbell was able to get away with the same way Jamarcus was able to get away with it. Campbell didn't have all the other problems with his game to go along with a slow release. Most of the passes he is accurate with are when the receivers are open by 20 yards and he has 5 seconds to throw. Almost all the throws are very late, WRs are waiting on the ball. He can improve but at the end of the day, he is what he is in the physical department. We all have limitations. Like I said I like the kid for the most part, he plays hard, I don't think he is enough to get you what you want unless you want a 7-10 win year. I will leave it at that. Let me put this way, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Problems I see with Jefferson: - Doesn't go through progressions - Drops way too deep in the pocket allow defenders a easy target - Doesn't step up properly and doesn't look up the field - Panics after about 1 second in the pocket - Throwing mechanic is way too slow - Throwing stance is huge Problems I see with Lee: - Stares down receivers - Makes a few bone head decisions (seems nervous at times) I left off the terrible option decisions/ability of Jefferson because Lee has no ability what so ever to do it either... a wash. And just because Lee's list is shorter doesn't necessarily make it any easier. It's a choice. I will leave it at that, what Jefferson has going for him is not his ability but that he hasn't turned the ball over much. He at least knows he can't make the throw... I don't know if that is good or bad but it's keeping in the position for now.
not too many picks (6) considering the # of att. but JJ has a higher QB rating, % comp., better TD/INT ratio and yds/att. chris todd is the #3 SEC QB by stats.
