Lee not getting a series in the second half will go down as one of the greatest mysteries of LSU football ever. It just makes no sense on so many levels.
I absolutely agree. We were watching in Fayetteville and we kept asking, "When is Miles going to insert Lee?" At least for a series. Could pride have been the root for Mile's insistence on staying with Jefferson, who was obviously lost in the game. But let's give credit to 'Bama: they had a GREAT defensive game plan.
Yes. That is the word I'd use also. Describes our fans perfectly. The ones who think they know more than they really do. We don't see Jarrett Lee in practices, meetings, film sessions and the like. We truly have no idea. For all we know, he's been out to lunch since November and has been mentally checked out. WE HAVE NO IDEA. What if he was behind Mettenberger on the depth chart going into the game because he just wasn't preparing diligently enough? We just don't know. We probably never will either, because Miles keeps things in house (as he should).
Lee has been slowly checking out since JJ came back. .. And why wouldn't he. Look, when a situation exists that is so blatant that even people who are not in the inner circle can see it, you can bet it is a million times worse for one who is. Lee KNEW his days were numbered. Lee, if anyone, was more aware of the favorite son status of JJ than anybody. The excuses keep comming!! Sure, Lee had some issues. He threw off his back foot. He wasn't as mobile as he could have been. Maybe he was a tad shy of getting hit. OK ... we'll put those in the Lee column. JJ couldn't read defenses. JJ also was pathetic when under game pressure to come from behind. JJ also was pathetic in the short pass game because he telegraphed every play and his windup is too slow. JJ was also afraid of getting sacked, and tucked and ran, usually for little gain too early. JJ seemed completely incompetent at being a true leader of the offense, and as demonstrated Monday night, still tends to be a tad nacissistic that he his perfect and that every mistake is someone else's fault. THEY BOTH HAD ISSUES ... and this is why everyone was ok with the 2 QB system .. because when one was off ... they were OFF. But it was ok, because the other could come in and change momentum. CLM failed in that he abandoned the model that lead to success. Whether it was JJ or JL starting, didn't matter, these guys were most effective when you played the option to use both. But ..once JJ became the starter, CLM started comming up with excuses as to why he was not playing Lee. As I said in the beginning ... the favoritism and unequal treatment was so blatant that even those of us on the outside could see it. .... and it cost the entire Tiger Nation a perfect season.
"And why wouldn't he" - there are 3.5m reason why he shouldn't check out "CLM failed in that he abandoned the model that lead to success" - his model for success was to wear teams down in the the first half and take over in the second. doesn't work with a team as talented and deep as you are. Bama realized this and changed strategy, we didn't. except for a few games with JJ and the first 8 games this year with JL nobody has been satisfied with our QB play for 4 years now! on the other hand, mettenberger was on course to start at georgia as a freshman ahead of aaron murray and he lead his JC team to the championship game (jj and, to a lesser extent, jl team lead them to the ncg). all year long i've wondered (and posted several times) "why isn't mett being given a chance to compete?" because it sure seems he has more potential than the 2-headed monster we've played with.
