Exactly what I said. Why in the bloody hell would you call a fade(ish) pass to an RB, especially with the height advantage that we have at WR? After the long completion that set that play up, you let Ridley take it home. Dude was good for 6-7yds every time he touched it. Why on earth do you risk a turnover on FIRST DOWN in that situation? That's Crowton for ya. Take the most stupefying, unlikely play, and that's what we'll run.
OMG - did we all watch the same game? Lee had 3 rediculous mistakes. (1) Intentional grounding while pulling a Jefferson - holding the ball too long, (2) Illegal forward pass. You're supposed to know where the line of scrimmage is at all times - I don't even see pee-wee players do that and (3) delay of game on that final drive. Still, Jefferson is as bad as Russell was - dead between the ears. So we have one who's dumb as a post and another one who gets so rattled he makes bad decisions. I think Lee would be much more suited for a program that is close to his home (NO NOT A & M I was thinking more like Sam Houston State)
yeah... i saw 185 yds passing in 5 series(less than half the game).... which is about twenty more than JJ had in the last 2 combined. Lets face it.... we will probably get one intentional grounding a game, so i can live with that. The illegal forward pass was far less dumb as pulling Lee at the end of the game, so if we are looking at the ridiculous mistakes of the tigers as a whole.... way down on the list. Delay of game? Les Miles is our coach.... these types of penalties, like the intentional grounding, are going to be commonplace as long as the miles/crowton regime is in power.
True. To be fair, Lee's not running 83 yards to punish a poor opening defensive effort by Tennessee. But over time, I think Lee's mistakes are far less damaging the team's ability to challenge Bama than Jefferson's play is. That's the difference to me. And with a little more time on the field, it's very possible the mistakes dwindle, since those that he made can easily and credibly be related to a lack of recent experience in game situations.
On the contrary I DO NOT think he was holding onto the ball too long pretty much most of the game, when compared with JJ; when the receivers are covered and not open, and with pressure coming up he had to throw the ball away instead of getting a sack. Points two and three I am confident they will go away with more time playing on the field. Overall, he did well in the game, considering his first meaningful game this season, and he delivered big time in the clutch. What else do you want???
And please explain to me how LSU even got on that end of the field to be able to score on the next play?
But, we won the game. Without JL leading the last drive, completing beautiful passes on 4th down, down the field which we haven't seen in a while, Tenn. would not have been put in a position to have us win off their screw up. If you want to make the case that JJ is the better QB, go start a thread on that, and I'm sure plenty of us will show up to debunk your case. This is the Jarrett Lee appreciation thread. If you don't appreciate what he did, go post on another thread.
