Lee played better when he knew he had a back-up ready to go in. Other than that, unless he can shake his fear of getting hit, he won't be an effective QB.

I just don't see it guys and gals. I saw no progression with Lee. The floaters to the backs running the wheel route, the balls over the middle into triple coverage, the inability to avoid the rush and make a play, the inability to stand in the pocket and complete a pass and take a hit (other than the injury play)

the complete lack of confidence he showed all season. Now granted alot of his mistakes can be put in the coaches pockets as well, because they never put him in a situation to succeed. Like someone said earlier, we saw glimpses, but then it would just fade away with a horribly thrown ball to a wide open target which just so happened to be wearing opposing colors.

I'm ready to live and die with JJ, and groom Sheppard.

JJ is going to have to take a gun out and shoot someone while playing on the field to have a worse year than Lee.

Well, maybe not that bad, but c'mon. He looked off a freaking safety for a TD.... as a freshman! Lee looked AT a safety for a TD. JJ is going to have to do a lot worse for me to want him replaced by Lee. I think JJ will split time with RS.

You misunderstood me. People are going to "live and die" with JJ until he screws up, then they'll be looking for someone else to "live and die" with.

I've said before, let JJ play because he has yet to make a crucial mistake. But he has yet to do the good that Lee has, either...despite "looking off a (singular) safety". Lee's seven pick sixes are bad, but his completion %, his touchdowns, and his productivity in the clutch cannot be overlooked. He did good things alongside the bad, like talented FRESHMEN are known to do. Cut him some slack.

no if he screws up he screws up, and live and die with him, means live and DIE with him. He is athletic and has the ability to extend the play. Now if you get an offensive coordinator in here like a norm chow, a pro style o.c. then a quarterback like lee would benefit more in a pro style system, and i dont think JJ would fit as well into that system. Look at Crowton's resume, we need a quarterback who has the abilty to tuck it and run, and extend the play. You are right, Lee did some good things, but the bad completely out weighed the good. He showed no signs of progression, he showed no signs of leadership, unless you count patting Richard Dickson on the shoulder pads when he throws a pick six and sitting by himself on the bench leadership. I saw more out of JJ in 2 games then i saw in Lee in a whole season. So yes im ready to live and DIE with Jefferson. Unless he is injured i feel that he is the guy to lead us, because of his athletic ability, and his leadership skills.

Honestly, I agree with everything you said. I just don't agree with the general consensus that Lee is a total bum. IMO it's just a matter of readiness, and he wasn't there. Additionally, I completely agree that Crowton's offense has the potential to be run better by JJ. If he can get his completion % up (should come with time and practice) and his sacks down, we can be deadly with him running the show.

I saw on another board that we had thirty-nine passes of twenty yards or more completed vs out defense. I wonder if that number is as significant to our season as the erratic quarterback play. It appears the offense tackled about as well as our defense.

yeah i agree he isnt a total bum, and he is accurate with the long ball, the deep ball to Chris Mitchell that Mitchell dropped i cant remember who that was against, bama maybe, the one to Tolliver against ole miss that Tolliver was held up on would have been there, a few to Byrd for touchdowns, one to Mitchell against Auburn. Man i wish i could sit here and say that i think he is going to get better, and he has tons of upside, and it was just freshman mistakes, but coupled with the fact that we saw no progression, and the fact that i just dont think he can succeed in this offense, i just dont want to see him on the field. That may be harsh but thats my opinion, (not that my opinion matters )

Total rumor and speculation running around TOS is that JL may be looking to transfer. This hasnt been confirmed but BS wasnt called by those in the know.
