Chinko to Toronto in the 11th round. (There are too many rounds in the Baseball draft).

Also, here's an update on other LSU signees and their draft status:

On Day 1, LSU's first signee for 2010, Texas High School outfielder Slade Heathcott, was selected six picks after Mitchell, No. 29 overall, by the New York Yankees.

On Day 2, LSU baseball signee Zach Von Rosenberg, a righthanded pitcher from Zachary High School, was the 175th overall pick in the sixth round of the draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In round 7, RHP Brody Colvin of St. Thomas More High School in Lafayette, La., was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies (227th overall).

In round 8, outfielder Chadwin Stang of Midland College was taken by the Milwaukee Brewers (256th overall).

    I take that opinion back.

I think he is gone because he will lose his bargaining power next year and it will be difficult to do way better next year to make a difference financially.

Just a note, I read a story that said the commissioner's office sent out a memo to all teams that they should try to cut the packages of similarly drafted players from last year by 10%. It will be interesting to see if the teams do this. Especially with that stud pitcher from Cali who's reportedly asking for 50 million.

I hope the best for Jared, but I think the scouts are way overshooting his skills. I hope he becomes a Hall of Famer after solely focusing on baseball, but if I was a GM and a scout told me he wanted to draft Jared Mitchell in round one-- I'd fire him.

As for Coleman, I think he'll be in the bigs in a couple years as a reliever and do well.

I don't know if you guys saw the feature on ESPN about baseball draft picks over the last few years, but VERY, VERY few of them pan out. At all. As in, less than 10%.

I don't know what's up, but it seems that teams continue to throw money at these very young, unproven kids who end up burning out, blowing up, or whatever. I think baseball and basketball need some of the same rules the NFL has. Two years of college before you can even think about it, then you must declare for the draft so the NCAA team knows what's going to happen.

the percentage is low because of the sheer number of draft picks.
there has already been almost 200 more people drafted this year than there are current active MLB players, with 20 rounds still to go.

that's gonna put a hellacious dent in your success ratio.
