Whether Trump thought beyond keeping power is open to question. The growing body of evidence shows there was an effort to stop the legal transfer of power and to usurp the office. Would it have been successful if Pence had followed orders is unknowable. There certainly would have been pushback but as you know possession is 99% of the law. Had he declared a national emergency and martial law who knows what would happen. Regardless that doesn’t reduce the threat and danger to our country it represented.
