While I get your point about Donnie’s intelligence, his ego won’t let him admit a loss. His insistence to remain in office was aided and abetted by others with more (but not enough) intelligence and knowledge. He also has a certain animal cunning and willingness to take risks that has served him in the past. As I said he set the objectives and has been using others. He also has some unscrupulous and dangerous support from people like Bannon who has said he wants to wreck the system. Finally he has an army of loud dupes to cow potential competition in the Republican Party. It was almost a perfect storm.
There's no way in hell the election results were going to over turned. Sad is that may be, it's time to move on and try to get through the next three years.
