Quite frankly you, and everyone here are nobodies whose comments mean nothing in the work of government. Meadows was the fricking Chief of Staff to the President. Congress has a role in making policy. Their comments are germane to the country’s business.
Again if you either don’t understand or think you’re cute by trying such a foolish excuse you’re not taking a serious part in the conversation. You can do better.

You are right if you are texting a public official about a private matter; that's wrong if you are texting a public official about a public matter. Which is what was happening in these communications.

I feel pretty sure that if Rachel Maddow was texting advise to Obama on how to get Obamacare more publicly accepted you would feel differently. I use that example because I was pissed and thought that was wrong when that conversation happened.

lets not play this game of "if X was Y you are a hypocrite".

i am for privacy in all situations. if i text mark meadows, that shouldnt mean its free for all on my privacy. people hould expect to be able to make private texts, regardless of topic and recipient.

Its not about policy. When you cease being a private person and CHOOSE to become a public official you are subject to a set of laws. Which is a good thing.

Public figures - our political leaders - should not expect or have a right to privacy in public matters. If what they are thinking, communicating, or doing impacts me I don't trust them with secrets. If you want privacy don't run for office or accept an appointed position in the government.

i see, so they have no right, ever, to speak off the record?

and anyone else who communicates with them in any capacity? like if meadows wife texts him she wants to lick his balls, thats public info? if his daughter texts him her deep insecurities, thats fair game?
