Your recommendation that Congress has no subpoena power means they'd lose the power of oversight. and we'd have a ruler with absolute power. Which method would you prefer over subpoenas? Congressional investigations do not necessarily have the goal of prosecution. You make no fucking sense.
subpeonas are fine for the justice dept in the context of an underlying crime, for example eric holder trafficking weapons. ginny thomas has done nothing wrong and has nothing to do with anything. subpeonas should be a justice dept tool. congress should not be putting guns to people;s heads to force them to talk about nonsense. for example, they should be investigating fauci and wuhan. but they should only have the authority to subpeona him to the extent a crime is involved like illegaly funding gain of fuction research.
if no crime is involved then they arent important enough to force subpoenas on anyone. whatever ginny thomas did, it doesnt require a federal investigation. she can email and text whatever the fuck she wants. they are going after her as a proxy punishment of her husband for roe v wade.
congress can investigate without subpoena, ahtough i would prefer it was left to the justice dept. and even if i opposed congressional oversight completely it would not mean i favor autocracy. try to make logical sense. congress is using this as a political theater, not a real investigation. and that is fine i guess good for those dumfucks. but they should not be allowed to threaten people with cages to play their dumb game.
