This is a summary with quotes of the judge’s decision where he concluded Trump committed 3 felonies in his effort to overturn his loss. Carter concluded that Eastman and Trump “likely committed” three crimes: (1) President Trump and his lawyer likely attempted to obstruct Congress’s proceeding to count the electoral votes on January 6, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1512(c)(2). (Recall that this is the charge Rep. Liz Cheney flagged from the House floor.) (2) President Trump and his lawyer likely engaged in a conspiracy to defraud the United States by disrupting the electoral count, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371. (3) President Trump likely engaged in common law fraud. All three of these crimes require a showing of criminal intent, which can be hard to muster. (For example, in Robert Mueller’s report of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, intent is what distinguished collusion from conspiracy, the latter of which Mueller apparently couldn’t establish.) Carter was undeterred. He found that “President Trump facilitated two meetings in the days before January 6 that were explicitly tied to persuading Vice President Pence to disrupt the Joint Session of Congress.” The first was on January 4, and included Pence, his counsel Greg Jacob, and his chief of staff Marc Short. Eastman presented a plan to reject electors or delay the count, and “Vice President Pence’s counsel interpreted Dr. Eastman’s presentation as being on behalf of the President.” Two days later, on the morning of January 6, “President Trump made several last-minute ‘revised appeal to the Vice President’ to pressure him into carrying out the plan.” They included tweets, a call from Trump to Pence, and the infamous speech on the Ellipse warning, “Mike Pence, I hope you’re going to stand up for the good of our Constitution and for the good of our country. And if you’re not, I’m going to be very disappointed in you.” Most critically for purposes of making a criminal case against Trump, Carter wrote: “President Trump likely knew the justification [of election fraud] was baseless, and therefore that the entire plan was unlawful,” as the House Jan. 6th Committee “points to numerous executive branch officials who . . . privately stressed to President Trump” as much. Moreover, “more than sixty courts dismissed cases” brought by Trump and his allies, because “there is no evidence to support accusations of voter fraud.” In short, Judge Carter concluded, “this plan was a last-ditch attempt to secure the Presidency by any means.” It violated the Constitution and, per Eastman’s own admission, “several provisions of statutory law.” Eastman knew it. Trump knew it. And to this day, the world knows it.
if the phrase we are using is "likely' that is another way to say we cant prove it and there is zero chance of conviction. impossible to muster in this case. trump wanted to stop certifying and recount. to call this a criminal act is silly and is pure political grandstanding. gore pushed his case forever, eventually to the supreme court. trying to overturn the election. its fine. hillary lied about russian tricks fraudulently giving the win to trump hoping to get him impeached and ousted, effectively overturning the election. all of this is an attempt by a loser to prove they won. it happens constantly, 3 times in the the memories of almost all of us over 35. its typical and not illegal to claim you won and push that idea to your supporters and courts and investigators etc. this judge is just grandstanding for liberal points. nothing will come it. nothing ever does. its just to please people like winston ho have bought the media lies about everything about trump. hey @Winston1 , is the biden laptop russian disinfo like the media and intelligence community says?
Is this judge A judge? If it is A judge then that's it he must be guilty. We all know here in America if one judge or A judge says it than it must be true and thats final. So with that said if A judge says Pedo Joe is indeed a pedophile than that's it he is a pedophile. Or if A judge says the election was stolen than no more trials no more adjudication because we must believe A judge............right? Bottom line is you want us all to believe A judge if it goes against Trump. You know Trump the guy you have unfounded visceral hatred of even though he is a proven protector of our rights granted to us by the constitution and Bill of rights you tell us you cherish soooooooooooo much. Lastly will you believe A JUDGE if that A JUDGE says Hunters laptop is real? Or A JUDGE says Trump is not guilty so on and so on?
Kiki this is a federal district court judge who was ruling on a suit to get documents to the January 6 committee. Maybe you should read the specific quotes. It certainly adds to the body of evidence that Trump committed crimes. If and when the evidence comes out against Hunter and Joe I’ll say the same. In fact I’m the one who has posted the latest about Hunter’s laptop. I am also one of many here who believe HRC should be in jail for her actions in the email scandal. i don’t care who it is or what their politics are if they’re a crook they should be brought to justice. Dot you agree?
You are beautiful! What a hypocrite you are! You for the last 5 years you were believing and trying to convince us Trump was guilty of everything your DEMOCRATS were accusing him of not because he was convicted but accused. You were sure he was guilty. Post after post you slammed Trump and anyone connected with him. How many people including me would retort; "this is it this is the big one he's going down". You are still at it today. Once again you are not fooling anyone here that has an once of common sense.
Actually the media seems to be changing its tune since the DOJ appears to be pursuing a criminal indictment of Hunter. As always the truth will out.
And as usual some of us are years in front of the media and right on the money. I could tell you why but I'm not Don Lemon so you won't believe me
