correct i would argue that the force at the capitol would play zero effective role in any insurrection, regardless of the size of the force. unless the force was no longer simply at the capitol, but tens of millions, maybe hundreds of millions nationwide. i think if these libs are willing to be honest about this, they may concede that the physical security at the capitol is entirely irrelevant to the stability of our govt.

There is exactly zero in the constitution about investigating random people for no reason. Pleading the 5th is, however, in the constitution for such instances as above.
Actually Congress does have a broad constitutional power to investigate and issue subpoenas. To say there is no reason to investigate January 6 is as ludicrous as calling 40 year old Ivanka a child.
