As a Reagan former-Republican, it is important to me that goals be accomplished in the correct manner. You have to follow the Constitution. Trump believed as President that he should have been able to do whatever he wanted to achieve his goals. He believed the end justified the means. That is exactly the kind of President that I do NOT want. Even if I desire the same goals. And Trump is NO CONSERVATIVE. He is just drunk on power and accolades. He will prostitute himself if need be to obtain them.
Umm...when you are subpoenaed by Congress, you are supposed to show up or at least respond. What would happen to YOU if you ignored a subpeona? The same should happen to the President of the US. And you certainly don't order your subordinates not to comply with a subpeona. There is NO QUESTION that is obstruction of justice. Trump should have been removed from office for this reason alone. This is what I mean when I say I don't want a President that ignores the Constitution and thinks the end justifies the means. How would you feel if Congress subpoenaed Biden about the Afghanistan withdrawal and he ignored it? What if he ordered his people to ignore it. I suspect you would feel the same way and would be hot under the collar, would you not?
like i said, this is not a specific policy criticism. its a procedural issue. i am looking for a policy criticism, like this: trumps failure to legalize drugs at the federal level perpetuates an endless and destructive drug war. see how my policy issue matter and effects lives? people are literally in cages for selling drugs. drugs people want. its a human rights catastrophe. my criticism of trump policy was not petty procedural shit. it is about stuff that matters to people's lives. try that.
the same thing if i tried to board air force one. its because i am not the president. the president does not have to follow the same rules that i do. i bet he has his driver break the speed limit too! i bet he doesnt even get a ticket for parking in front of the white house! fucking double standard
If you think access to marijuana is more important than upholding the Constitution then that tell me all I need to know.
there is precedent for presidents ignoring subpeopna. its a fairly complex separation of powers issue, and if congress hates it they can impeach. this is a complex legal issue, and you i would like to see where you think the constitution says the pres has to show up for subpoenas. or how that affects our lives. its not about access to marijuana, its about a massive drug war that has killed plenty and cost billions and billion, destroying lives not only here but overseas.
also i should note that the subpeona for the pres was about russia stuff right? the russia stuff was 100% bullshit from the start. it was a democratic hatchet job, and they found that out when mueller didnt find shit
