SF, I expected some kind of sarcastic respnse from you but you know perfectly well what I mean. Yes, I'm sure that Miles had some reason for not playing RS more but given the fact that a high percentage of his limited touches resulted in positive and for the most part exciting plays I would like to know what those reason's were in Les Miles own words. Is Shepard just an idiot who can't grasp enough of the playbook to effectivley fun a limited number of plays that he could practice and be taught to run well.? I don't think so given the fact that he sounded intelligent and pretty articulate in the interviews I have heard with him. (OK, I'll give you that one. Obama is articulate too.)

Is Shepard a borderline thug with a bad attitude who is on the edge of being kicked off the team? I don't know but I really don't believe it without at least hearing some rumors about it.

You have posted it the past about how fans are not qualified to do the coaches job. That is true but this is football, not rocket science. I think you are some kind of insurance actuary or something like that. I would never presume to tell you how to do any aspect of your job because I know absolutley nothing at all about any phase of your business. I have no opinions whatsoever about it. I would never question a brain surgeon or a rocket scientist about any phase of their jobs or second guess their decisions.

But we are talking about football. No, I'm not saying that I have the qualifications to be the head coach of a major college football team but as a lifelong fan of LSU football as well as college football in general and the NFL, I am certainly a well informed observer. So are you. If we had spent the same amount of time in our lives watching surgeons perform operations as we have watching football we still wouldn't be qualified to be surgeons ourselves but we would be able to comment in a knowledgeable way about how well they performed their surgilcal techniques. We would know when the surgeon had done a good job and we would know when they had botched it based on factors other than whether the patient lived or died.

By the same token both you and I, as well as a lot of others, are qualified to make knowledgeable comments on the state of the union of the LSU football program and to question the decisions of the coaches. What puzzles me is why you restrain from at least expressing a curiosity of the reasoning behind some of Miles and Crowton's coaching decisions.

After all you never shy away from expressing your opinions on politics or any other topic

You miss the point of my protestations. I'm saying that the subject has been hung, drawn and quartered and it's time to move on. For instance, the thread "How will RS be utilized in 2010?" is much more relevant.
