I haven't read through all of the pages in this thread but agree that message boards can affect recruiting to some extent. I get the impression that tigerdroppings is much bigger (more active users) than message boards from other schools. They also have a reputation for being more childish than most. Does anyone have a comparison list of each school's message boards based on activity levels?

This is the problem. Saying a player is not good or had a bad game gets translated to "well tell them that to their face pussy".

At least our fans don't go and egg our QBs vehicle for losing in OT... ask the pigs about that one.

The MORON as he is now known to many so-called Tiger fans, has a better winning percentage than all but four other LSU coaches and none of those coached more than 20 games (3 coached eight or fewer). So I guess LSU has a long history of moron coaches. Moore, Dietzel, McClendon, Arnsparger, Saban - all were bigger morons than Miles. So much for bad coaching.

LSU has a record number of players in the NFL LSU set an NFL record with DBs picked in a draft last year. What did ESPN have to say: "How does LSU produce so many NFL draft picks? Recruiting is one good answer. Another is development. The Tigers did it with a mix of players: several who were highly regarded coming out of high school and lived up to the hype, and a surprising number of players who developed their talents after coming to Baton Rouge, La. Of the nine Tigers picked, five were not ESPN 150 picks coming out of high school." So much for poor player development.

Losses? LSU had three which is where many people had them considering the losses on defense. Beat JFF and the preseason highly touted Aggies. The genius Sumlin lost four with a Heisman trophy winner in a year big things were predicted. Beat that other genius Gary Patterson who went, whaat, 4-8. Our moron doesn't look so bad.

Bowl Record- Here Miles is on a bit of a skid losing 3 of the last 4 bowl games but 5-3 overall. Lost one of those in a quagmire and the other on the final drive. But impressive bowl wins against ND, Aggies, Georgia Tech, Ohio St., and Miami. There's room for criticism regarding bowl game preparation in the last several years. It's a legitimate complaint. Doesn't make Miles a moron, though. Bernie Moore, a legend at LSU and in college football, went to five bowl games but only won one.

Some of you are going to hate Miles no matter what. You're always looking at what you perceive to be greener grass. I truly believe some of you dog Miles based on the success at Bama. Saban has only managed one undefeated season at Bama and considering they are in the midst of a dynasty, that means Saban loses at least one game each year that he probably shouldn't lose. Lost three, yes that's three, games the year after the undefeated NC season. Since then he has lost to LSU (at home), A&M (at home), and Auburn in a game where his coaching performance has become the butt of national jokes and his post-game comments the base of national ridicule and scorn. In my opinion, Miles would not be hated near as much by LSU fans if Bama hadn't lucked into three NCs (ok they lucked into two of them).

I get as frustrated as the next guy watching the Tigers in close games. But sometimes fan expectations are not realistic. The proof is in the pudding - Miles is a good coach. His record speaks for itself. I suffered through the 80s and 90s as a fan so I know how fortunate we are to have a coach that keeps us in contention year after year. We're not going to win it every year- it's just not possible. But even in a down year like this one, we are just a few plays from playing in Pasadena. Sometimes we don't get the lucky breaks. Auburn is two freak plays from being 8-3 and an afterthought. Miles is a little goofy but in a lovable way, you don't get to where he is by being a moron. David LeFleur said Miles is the best coach he's ever played for. Troy Aikman says Miles is an outstanding coach. Internet posters say he is a moron. Who do you believe?

It is silly to hear the pumpers say team x lucked into their success. That's a part of football and lsu has had its share.

Yet it's highly intelligent to say a coach with a .805 winning percentage is a moron and a loser.

I just want LSU to play one game at a time, and regardless of how uninspiring the team or bowl we're playing in is... play YOUR football, and quit playing up or down to the competition. My only bitch really.

Miles deserves credit for 80% wins.
