I honestly don't think Comey had any other choice. It was a no win situation, before the election you are trying to tank Hillary, after the election you are trying to tank Trump, I'd rather piss off a bunch of PC liberals than a bunch of gun toting rednecks. There's a significant chance that Senator Al Franken, who yesterday called for a Senate investigation into collusion between the FBI and the Trump campaign, scared the living daylights out of that snake Comey. I think Comey sees now that his scumbag move last week only had minimal electoral effect, that Hillary Clinton is going to be elected, and that he better cover his ass.
He certainly did. He overstepped his duty when he held that press conference and testified before Congress to smear Hillary Clinton. His job was to investigate and announce the results, not to politically editorialize. Was just another episode in a long history of episodes where Hillary is unfairly treated with standards that nobody else is held to.

He put himself in this position with the way he handled the case. Since the case, people have been put in jail for things found on HRC's server. I feel like I should repeat myself and say "I am not saying it was HRC", but again, someone moved the classified information onto her server and not a single person got in trouble. Yet, we send other "ordinary" folk to jail. For the people on the left who bitch and moan about the criminal justice system to let this slide is beyond me, but hey, Trump says mean shit.
