I wonder if the recruitment of Akiem Hicks factored into it, as he will see the field his first year obviously and projects as a DT, although he could play DE (and probably will given more attrition at that position for LSU).
I can understand looking at the roster and not wanting to spend 2 years riding the bench waiting on playing time. The JUCO DE/DT I'm sure played a part in his decision. Either way, it's a loss for LSU, but I'm not heart broken over it.
LSU is stacked with big names but there is also a lack of production from the DL. So if he is as good as advertised Im sure he could get PT. All that said I think he ends up at Texas.
we have not had a lack of production on the defensive line, please watch whats happening in the games we are getting the penetration and we are not getting bllown off the ball. our problem is not d-line linebacker play is killing us.i think we have not recruited well at linebacker in a few years and it is killing us.i felt like we needed to sign as many linebackers as possible and we need to get better at safety. especially if the d-coordinator wants to play cover one so much and were forced to play guys like percy harvin man up with a safety we better get guys who can cover from the safety position. i really wish they would buld chad jones up about ten more pounds and play him at linebacker
Although our linebacker play is definitely worse, the d-line is not playing up to expectation. We get no pass rush unless we blitz. Our run stopping is adequate but we can't get at the quarterback. That's what I've been watching
