Rewatch some games. The DL is consistently getting pushed off the line. They have their moments, no doubt. But overall they have been the biggest let down IMO, considering all the hype and NFL talent. They dont get much of a pass rush, as mentioned unless theres a blitz. The line is getting beat on the run as well. Teams are easily getting the corner on them, the line gets no containment. I know a lot of the corner runs are on the LBs as well but still. The S on Harvin is just extremely poor coaching.

I have not seen anyones offensive line reestablishing the line of scrimmage against us NO ONE.They are not getting to the quartback but penetration is there. I dont know if you ever played the game but penetration is there now i agre we are not putting the QB on the ground. but the d-line has two responsibility on 1st and second down hold the line of scrimmage D-Tackles stand tthose guards up they are doing that if they prevent the o-line from getting onto the linebackers they did there job...."WE HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS AT LINEBACKER,CUTERA IS HORRIBBLE AND WE HAVE NO SPEED AT THAT POSITION THEY NEED TO PLAY BAKER...

LSU is rarely disrupting the passing attack. Therefore its not great penetration from the DL. They arent getting many tackles for negative gains. Dont get me wrong, they havent play horribly, but they havent played great either. Certainly not like the best DL they were being touted as.

I do agree the LB play has been very subpar. They dont cover well and take extremely poor angles. Same can be said for our S play. Another problem plaguing the team is very poor tackling. LSU doesnt wrap up at all anymore. Just going for the big hit.

I just remember Shepard saying that - can't remember where I read it.

My feeling is that the lack of DL pressure stems not from a lack of quality players or aggressive play on their part, but from the secondary allowing more space for the WRs to run quick routes and the QB to in turn have a quick release before the pressure can get there. Now, certainly we have not stacked the line as much as we seemed to in the past, too, which speaks to gameplanning, not individual DL player effort or quality. Definitely, LB play has been subpar - a comment on talent level at that position.

I think some of what you are saying is correct. Like I said the DL hasnt been horrible, but they havent been as good as expected. I stand by that statement. That said, I do think the secondary has allowed too much of a cushion. As a whole the schemes have been horrible for the most part. Id like to see LSU play more aggressive. The LB play has been very sub par as had the S play. Thats where LSU is really getting beat. As for the DL though they should be getting more upfield than what they are IMO.

Even knowing how young our secondary is depending on the coverage, we do have three 5* guys on the field. Jai Eugene and Chad Jones seem so lost from time to time. Were these guys overrated or is it our coaching and schemes on defense. Patrick Peterson has been beaten but that's going to happen to a true freshman out there. He looks like the real deal to me.
As far as the tackling is concerned, thank God the offense isn't on defense. It is just amazing that we can allow 7 INT's returned for Pick 6's.
I know we have to keep our quarterback from getting hurt but I have never seen Lee even close to anyone who has intercepted his passes. At least knock the guy out of bounds or have an effort. Maybe he's been told to stay away from the tackle. I sure remember Flynn going after the guy who stole his passes. Maybe it's me.
As far as mcfarland goes, it may be like in dumb and dumber, "So you say there's a chance". "Like one in a million"LSU!

I dont think Jai was a 5 star, 4 maybe? Peterson is living up to his star factor. Chad has a ways to go.
