If you are going to argue that the Raiders suck because of their accumulation of poor draft choices such as Bey, then what makes you think Russell wasn't another bad draft choice by an organization that continuously messes up in the draft?

To me, Russell should have never been the first pick in that draft. And, it was only senile Al Davis who would have drafted Russell because Russell had the best cannon of an arm just like Bey had the fastest 40 time in his draft.

The Raiders were never that bad of a team. They have a good defense, and its not like they were asking the offense to light it up. If the Raiders had given Jeff Garcia a fair shot of winning the QB job, the Raiders would have been an okay team this year.

Fixed it for you. Another example of all world talent with no brain and a poor attitude. Hopefully he invested his money wisely.

    exactly right

not sure why people are grasping at straws with this guy

as martin said, he is a strong arm and nothing more

people get too enamored with that and don't consider the QB game is played inside the head (see Drew Brees)

So being dumb and not having a work ethic is a recipe for disaster as an NFL QB

I haven't seen anything that supports the "lack of intelligence" argument. The coaching staff at LSU said that he had no problems with the playbook and making decisions. He's just not self-motivated to be better which is the case with a lot of QBs blessed with strong arms.

He was horrible making decisions at LSU. He constantly relied on his strong arm to force the ball into double and triple coverage. Maybe more time watching film and being a little less arrogant enough to take some coaching and he would be having success. As it is a much less physically talented QB is doing things with the Raiders that JR only dreamed of, like winning.
