Jamarcus Russell against a mediocre KC defense at home had the following stats:

    9-24 for 67 yards

    egad!

He was finally benched for Gradkowski in the 4th quarter.

Maybe they should just convert him into an offensive lineman, or a fullback.

It all depends on his attitude. If he really wants to be successful, he'll find a team with a great QB on the roster and a great QB Coach, then sit and learn.

And the chance of him wanting to do that after being put on such a tremendous pedestal?

Well, if he doesn't want his career to be effectively over, he'll have to do what it takes. But being in his 3rd year, I don't see a lot of teams that might want to start over with him.

    Bama Boy.....

Well his contract did buy him the really cool overly sized Elephant Necklace that said Bama Boy.....
SO he has that going for him...

Yeh I know he is an LSU Tiger, but him and Harvey Williams lost that privilege in their pro careers for me.

Geez I wish they could all be like Shaq....

I think that I'd have to know Jamarcus personally to make that call. I do know that it's never too late to re-dedicate yourself. Tommy Maddox did it. Randall Cunningham did it. Brad Johnson did it. Trent Dilfer did it. Joey Harrington is trying to do it.

My gut instinct is that he's content to sit on that mountain of cash that every #1 draft pick gets, but I have been told that I'm a natural skeptic...

Watching parts of the game, I feel bad for the guy now. I think one series from yesterday is a microcosm of his tenure at Oakland.

Nothing on 1st. 2nd down, patented 60yd effortless pass that hits Heyward-Bay in stride... dropped. Next play he flicks his wrist to drop in a 30yard pass that turns into a 60yd gain... cheapie holding call on Gallery. Next play, pocket breaks down for a big sack, but he did manage to throw off a few guys before going down. Punt.

I stopped listening once he got benched, but they receivers dropped 9 balls up to that point!!
