and in true jake plummer fashion, he is being an ass about it.... I'd expect nothing less.. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2785459
they reported he is retiring and refused to go to the bucs. damn tampa aint a bad gig there snakeless. retires with a 1:1 ration td/int. 161-161
maybe he wants to quit while he is ahead... but... he isn't ahead. maybe he wants to quit while he is even. :hihi:
sad but true. i never could stand the guy either. the comparisons and hype he had out of college. it was sickening. i always thought he sucked before he sucked. i guess quinn can take his place.
His record there was pretty darned good. It's not like Shanahan has won with anyone other Elway anyway. I refuse to give up hope. Nevertheless, I'm glad the Texans aren't willing to give up draft picks, given their major cap issues though. I'd rather see Plummer retire as a big middle finger to the Cutler-smitten Broncos anyway.
http://www.denverpost.com/ci_5343024 Decent article, looks like his family thinks he's serious about retiring. I think the Pat Tillman situation really hit him hard as well. I don't know why folks don't like the guy. He always seemed like the fun kind of QB to watch -- talented, wreckless, and competitive. You know, a bit of an anti-Carr. The guy had over half of his career wasted with the worst franchise in pro sports, yet STILL got them a PLAYOFF win, which for the Bidwells, is essentially like three-peating four times.
He had a reputation for being a jerk off the field. His regular season W-L percentage was better than Elway's but it's an apples/oranges comparision in my mind. The one thing that bugged me the most was his erratic play and decision making in big games.
