To be fair, with all the irrational "Jacory Harris is a Heisman QB" we've been getting shoved down our throats, this is a valid thread. I can't remember the last time I've seen a player get so much irrational hype that didn't make any sense. Does anybody know an example of a more over-hyped player in history?
Wow, I can't even imagine how bad the hype is in Florida... being that I've never seen anything as irrational as it on the national scale. When you play for a program that won 5 national titles since the 80's, people just get insanely irrational when your team has one great game where you did your job in that effort... even when you didn't do anything that was spectacular.
Not saying more, but I can rememer Kyle Orton for Heisman. Then he stunk it up his senior year at Purdue. I admit, I like Jacory's game. Not bad for a sophmore. Heisman? Its a long season.
No. Ive never seen anything like it in my life. Dude hasnt hit one guy coming out of his break. Note: next time we need some hype to feel better about ourselves schedule a few questionable top 25 teams on Thursday/Monday. Even Lil Nootch can float 30 yarders on FSU's defense. Hes not a bad QB and has been playing well. But it did not take a great QB to play great in those games.
From what I remember, the only mention I saw regarding him at Oregon was how Oregon bought a huge billboard in Times Square pimping him for Heisman. However, looking it up, he did finish 4th in the Heisman voting in 2001, during his senior year when he threw for 2,415 yards and 23 touchdowns, and he finished his college career with a 25-3 record (and got drafted 3rd overall in the 1st Round by the Lions). But, his vote in the Heisman wasn't even close.. 2001 Heisman Vote 1. Eric Crouch... 162 1st place votes, 770 total (3rd Round NFL pick) 2. Rex Grossman... 137 1st place votes, 708 total (1st Round NFL pick, #22 overall) 3. Ken Dorsey... 109 1st place votes, 638 total (7th Round NFL pick) 4. Joey Harrington ... 54 1st place votes, 364 total (1st Round NFL pick, #3 overall) Note the over-hype fail for "da U" QB, Ken Dorsey... and Miami was the National Champs that year, thanks to all the NFL all-stars on that team (for example, I believe Shockey was their #1 receiver on the run to their National Title). Their running backs were Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee, and Frank Gore, their safety was Ed Reed, their WR was Andre Johnson, their MLB was Jonathon Vilma... Sean Taylor played for that team, etc. That team had 16 guys get drafted in the 1st Round of the NFL Draft.
