This will probably be our other signing at QB, although he is wide open.

LSU and OU are thought to be leading the pack, but Notre Dame, Arizona, and Texas Tech could come into play.

“I grew up an LSU fan and my dad went to LSU along with all of my cousins,” Karam said. “Right now, they say they are interested in me but they have not offered me. My good friend is Russell Shepard and he just committed to them so we will see how things end up since that happened. They told me they plan on signing two quarterbacks so we will see.

I think the signing of Shepard probably means we have much less chance for guys like Savage and McCarron.

I think Karam is a back-up plan. We're very, very familiar with him and yet still haven't offered.

    This is my guess also.

I think with Shepard already on the team, we won't attract a higher profile QB and we will end up with Karam. Nothing wrong with him, I think he fits our needs quite nicely.

I'll take another marginal QB winning a national championship. It's all about the team, baby.

If we recruited Shep as an ATH, which may be in the cards for him ala Pat White, I think we have a shot at another big time QB. Coach may have given him a "we'll see."

Shep is a QB and it doesn't look like we anticipate moving him.

Kid has definitely got an arm. He will develop quite nicely as a passing QB, much faster than Vince Young.

English is an ambiguous language. You mean he will develop faster as a passer (and not he runs faster than VY), correct?

with limited number of scholarships to give out in this class, do ya'll think it's neccessary to take another QB in this recruiting class. I kind of like spacing them out one year apart. With the way things are now, for the 09 season, we'll have RP as a senior (if he is still here), Andrew Hatch will be a senior, Jarret Lee will be a sophmore, Jordan Jefferson a RSFR, and Shepard as a true Freshman.

My response in the Morgan Newton thread:

Hypothetically if RP is not here in 2009 (which is the true freshman year of whomever we recruit this year), then our projected depth chart would look like:

    1) Jarrett Lee
    2) Andrew Hatch
    3) Jordan Jefferson
    4) Russell Shepard

That's 4 deep, which is what you want.

    We're recruiting a 2nd QB for 2010 and beyond.

I would not be shocked if we only get 1 QB. In fact I hope we only get one, so we can get another stud player at some other position. We're not getting a 2nd stud QB, why settle on a marginal one.
