I feel with more 1st team reps, and a little more game time play Etling just may develop into a threat. Not getting my hopes up either, but I see more upside than with Harris under center.
We'll see what happens with tougher competition and when coaches get film of him to game plan better, but we don't need him to be an All American. We just need him to be good enough so that defenses have to respect the pass and not put all 11 in the box to stop #7. In other news, Anthony Jennings was 15/21 for 170, 1TD no picks, in Lafayette's win over McNeese St. if you're interested.
Remember that Etling has played a game in over a year and he still looked decent. With some reps, better O line play, and WR timing he would look even better. He makes much better decisions than any QB we have seen in a while, he just needs to knock the rust off.
Sources say that Etling & the offense didn't really go flat after the initial success.....Miles got excited and started calling plays and coaching up Etling. He got everything the way we're use to in the end.
