Obscure story I just happened across. With all the jail stories going around I thought I would just throw this one onto the pile. http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070611/LOCAL0202/706110412/1247/SPORTS Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jack Trudeau is to appear in court Tuesday following his recent arrest on charges related to underage drinking at his Zionsville home. An initial hearing scheduled for today in Boone County Superior Court 2 in Lebanon was continued until Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the request of his attorney, Mike Andreoli, court officials said. Trudeau is charged with obstructing justice, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and furnishing alcohol to a minor. The charges were filed after Whitestown police and Boone County sheriff's deputies responded to a complaint of a teen drinking party at the home of Jack and Lisa Trudeau on June 2. Trudeau, 44, and his wife were hosting a graduation party for their daughter and her fellow graduates of Park Tudor High School. A police report shows Trudeau denied furnishing any of the alcohol to the teenagers. Authorities say he refused to provide them with a list he had naming those attending the party. Although several of the teens found tested positive for alcohol, investigators suspect several more evaded police.
With folks so inclined to sue these days, can't figure why someone would put themselves in this position. That said, I guess this is more common than one would think. I knew parents of friends in high school who permitted this sort of thing. Not my folks, no way.
Back in my day, 18 was the legal age. Alcohol at graduation parties was not a big deal as many were of legal age. My parents didn't allow me to have a party b/c they didn't want their house torn up, but they did allow me to go to those parties knowing alcohol would be there. Hell, they even let me go with an ice chest full of beer.
