J Lee is getting his props from LSU radio in his "on the air" postgame interview.

    Good for him!

It's nice to see him get a pat on the back after all the kicks while he was down.

I think we can all agree with this.

I think play calling had more to do with the comeback.
After LSU stopped trying to pound the ball against a 8 and 9 man front...(down 31 -3) tigers went into the no huddle offense and started throwing the ball down the field. 2 passes for 33 yds each. Lee seems to play with much more confidence when he is ahead of the Yard marker. LSU keeps running the ball on 1st and 2nd downs and put Lee in a 3rd and long (the opposing teams know the pass is coming) Lee struggles.

I have to agree with you. While I have been very critical of him - and for justifiable reasons - the kid has a chestfull of character. If he can get some consistency, improve on his techniques and play for 60 minutes instead of 30, he has the potential to be a great quarterback.

Regardless of this being Troy (in fact Troy is not a bad team at all considering they have a lot of interceptions, and their defense had been quick at stuffing quite a bit of LSU's runs) I think this is just the kind of" shot in the arm" game that Jarrett needs to regain his confidence. Imagine, going from the lows of knowing that you lost the game almost onehandedly in the Bama lost and grinding through the personal struggles in the first half of the Troy game to the highs of bringing the team back out of depths of sure defeat.

Why don't you say the same thing about the entire defense that got beaten like a rented mule in the first half?

You are one of the biggest bashers of Lee, but cannot recognize that regardless of who we were playing this was a heroic comeback that Lee had a huge part of. He played quite well and enabled the win more than any one player.

You guys can pile on for a loss.
You need to pile on for a kid that directed us to 37 unanswered points in less than 20 minutes.

If you were in the chatroom, you would have heard me trashing the defense more than Lee. And I did give credit to Lee for the win. Again, I think it took Jefferson to change the pace and give Lee that shot in the arm. Lee is not an every snap QB.

This is, however, a thread concerning Lee.

Several great posts here, and I agree that it was a great comeback and that JLee has shown true courage and grit to hang in there this year, and this game, with all of the pressure that comes with being a QB of a big-time college program.

I posted on another thread that what I have noticed is that the key for JLee is that he is a drop back passer by nature. When he drops back, he steps up and fires, and really looks like BFavre at that moment - see AUB and Troy second halves. When he is asked to rollout, begin in shotgun, etc. his mechanics seriously falter and he does not step into the throw causing them to go high, or erratic. It is clear to me that stepping and throwing is his strength and our play calling should showcase that much more and keep it simple for him, IMO. I do not agree with dttf that we started the game running the ball too much. In fact, if you go back and look at the stats, we tried to throw the ball to set up the run. We threw something like 11 out of the first 16 plays, which crossed multiple series since they were mostly 3 and outs. We did start trying to hammer the ball in the second qtr and that was against the 8 man fronts and went no where. One could argue the logic of throwing so much (I do believe we were trying to set up the run later) so early when we should be perhaps trying to establish our strength first, the run, then mix up the pass, but that is arguable either way.
