Meanwhile on the hardwood, we are quietly on a 7 game winning streak, taking down the mighty Magic along the way. Without Rip Hamilton (Groin), Rasheed Wallace (soar left foot) and A. McDyess (Rib injury). Stuckey had 38 last night, he had 40 against the bulls last week. I think he is averaging 26 over the last 8 games. A.I is averaging 19. And we keep chugging along.
Stuckey is incredible. I think they would have been better served to getting a role player defensive specialist for Chauncey. A.I. is having little to do with Detroit's success.
18 points, 5 assists and 3 boards per game say different. Billups averaged 17, 7 and 2 boards in the Det system last year. so it's a virtual tradeoff except that AI is more of a playoff player imo, b/c stars win playoff series's.
I am not trying to compare those 2. I am saying for the Piston's sake of getting as far as possible in the playoffs, they could have gone after somebody else besides AI in a trade for Billups. Detroit will absolutely NOT win a championship with AI. They are too soft now. Defense will ultimately kill them come playoff time. So is Detroit playing that 3 guard lineup with no center?
To Soft, wow soft is the Lakers in the finals last year or the Suns every game. Detroit plays the 3 guard lineup when they know they can outrun a team. Other than that he starts the bigs.
the only thing soft about Detroit is Rip Hamilton's nose (no more cartilage left in it ). They're one of the more physical teams in the NBA.. No. 8 in team defense.
Would be interested to see the comparison of the D in the first 4 games vs the games since Iverson has been there. Not a lot of sample space with 4 games though, so maybe not worth mentioning. So Detroit basically takes on 2 personalities depending on the opposing team. I like that philosophy. So what does Detroit do against 1) Cleveland - run and gun? 2) Boston- run and gun? 3) Lakers - bring in the bigs? 4) Magic - bring in the bigs?
1) Cleveland- well they already beat Cleveland this season, but that was with Billups. Id say definitely run and gun against Cleveland. 2) Boston-you have to start the bigs, they are just too physical. 3) Lakers-they have beat the Lakers as well, Im not sure if Iverson was there yet, but a small lineup will work against LA, not in 7 games though. I definitely agree with you on the 2 personalities comment. Sometimes they act like bytches and sometimes they go hard.
